Jockey, writer, broadcaster (from the old ITV Seven days), founder of the injured jockeys fund. A truly respected member of the horse racing fraternity.

Have you ever been outside the house?

Now someone has responded with a normal response and i now know who he is.
As I have, nor had any interest in horse racing there is no reason for me to know of him.

I remember him from my childhood - many an afternoon down my Nans house with the horse racing with John Oaksey at the track.

Who waste other fella that was always there as well? Peter O'Sullivan did the commentary I remember but there was also another talker like Oaksey - younger fella.

He was the son of the noted jurist Geoffrey Lawrence, 1st Baron Oaksey. He preferred to be called Oaksey although Trevethin is the longer-established title. In his broadcasting career, he was initially known as John Lawrence before adopting the name John Oaksey when he succeeded to the baronies on the death of his father in 1971.
