I think in his case it did.

The restaurant is still going. A few people made pilgrimages to it when they heard of his death and had a succulent Chinese meal in his memory.

Petty fraud. The police made a mistake though and informed the press they were arresting a highly wanted criminal, not a guy who does a runner from restaurants with forged checks and cloned credit cards.

His bewilderment at the arrest seeing all the press there is understandable.
