Ah - thanks for pointing out the Sussex connection. Many years ago I saw him at the County Ground so I kind of hoped he was a Sussex supporter.

He was! Can't remember if he was the first actor to play the dad or the second. I can remember the face of the other actor.

Never appreciated he was in his 90s. RIP

Had the pleasure to meet him in an Indian restaurant in Crawley, 1986 whilst I was working an exhibition nearby at Ardingly. I politely spoke to him at his table and he was an absolute gentleman, insisted on buying my colleague and I a beer whilst saying how wonderful it was to work with Ronnie Barker. A true gentleman....RIP.
