Great band. I played 'One More From the Road' yesterday and it must be one of the best live albums. The closest I got to seeing them live was turning up at the Dome in October 1975 to be told that their gig was cancelled as Ronnie Van Zandt had flu.

I always associate the news of the plane crash with the day we played Palace at the Goldstone (1-1) as I believe the news hit the UK papers that same morning so we were talking about it on the way to the match.

So lucky to have seen them a couple of times at their peak in the mid-70s.

one of the top three live bands of all time IMO

I had a ticket for the Knebworth gig in 1976 but didn’t go because I wanted to play cricket. One of the biggest regrets of my (music) life because I missed Skynyrd absolutely blowing the Rolling Stones off the stage.
