Used to live in my home town of Eastbourne for many years. Often used to see him around town.

Legend is a word that gets bandied around far too much, but had it not been for aforementioned death of Yootha Joyce he would have been right up there as a sit com icon, with Barker and Jason.

Met his wife, Linda Regan, herself a Hi Di Hi Yellow Coat, some years ago, a lovely lady. They clearly had a very happy and loving marriage.

RIP.

I thought he was utterly immortal myself. Well thought of man and perfect in his acting roles. Another piece of our childhood gone.

RIP

Sad, I used to see him going to Shortlands station near Bromley to buy his newspaper every morning when I lived there around 10 years ago.
Loved his part in Booze Cruise (TWAT)

I continued to appreciate his comedy acting when he joined the cast of Last Of The Summer Wine.

A true comedy legend - can’t believe the lady who played Mildred passed away so long ago in 1980 . Classic sitcom.
