That was one crazy coach trip. If you were on it you would know that because the driver wouldn't stop the floor was awash with pee, and the floor was where I had put my sarnies. I chucked them up on the rack and when I got back after the game, I found Nick eating them. Rather him than me. Happy days.

RIP Nick

I was on the coach. Famous trip that one. I'm still trying to remember who stole the giant orange juice drinks dispenser" . Cant blame Nick for that........his hands were full.

So sorry to hear. Great bloke and a bloody good laugh. My memory was him taking on a police horse complete with its rider. Guess who won. RIP.

You must also remember me driving a lorry to Wardys début at Hereford when the Clifton mini bus broke down and you all got in the back of my lorry and Nick always referred to it as the 'banana lorry' cos it was yellow and blue.

In those days I was driving for Whiteheads in Leatherhead and used to take the lorry home to get to and from work.and on that Saturday did a detour complete with photocopied log book sheet.

Nick Turner was a tenant at my mothers house for a number of years in Worthing. She used to give him friendly advice, not to get in trouble again travelling to the next Albion game.

I always found him a friendly and great character, who would be seen in the Clifton, Chapmans in Worthing often.

I also remember him giving me a hug and nice words shortly after my father died .RIP big man .

I also remember working with him at the post office, and one morning he turned up at 5am after a drinking session still pissed with no sleep. lets just say it was an entertaining morning, rather than the normal other posties who were in bed at 9pm

I went on the Seagull special train that day BG.

I could write a book on those days and Nick would be on every page.

Whilst I went on many of the trips with the Clifton, I didn't do that one. Some great memories, and the one that always springs to mind was when the coach failed to turn up for one away game so we decided to go to the Isle of Wight for the day and after a boozy lunchtime we all ended up being escorted back to the ferry and deported as they wanted us off the island.:drink::drink::laugh:

That was a famous one..... Although not there myself. I remember once when on the way back from Man City Nick demanded we go 'bog hopping' in the Peak District on the way home. After picking up half a dozen cans each , Nige Erskine jumped a small one but Nick pushed me into a deep one and I was up to my waste in muddy water. Drove the next 50 miles with my trousers hanging out the back window to dry and when we stopped so I could put them on Nick made the driver shoot off leaving me on a stone wall in just my underpants. 15 minutes later they came back and gave me a can to stop me sulking.

Thanks from Nick's brother

I am Steve, Nick's brother. I have met one or two of you on my trips down to visit Nick over many years and spent a good few evenings in Chapmans. I just want to thank everyone for their wonderful stories and memories of Nick, both from me and his two sisters, Jane and Kate. We are overwhelmed by how many of you wanted to share your sadness but also to remember the fun you had with Nick. Yes, he was a great guy in so many ways and we will miss him terribly. I vividly recall him telling us he had been banned from the Isle of Wight after that famous trip.

He sometimes came with me to Maine Road back in the days and I have a store of tales about those games too, like when he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly within 10 seconds of getting into the ground. The police found out where he lived and decided it was too much trouble to charge him so he was set free, paid again and watched the game. We could only tell where he was by the occasional shout of "Seagulls." from deep in the Kippax. City were playing Wolves but he was not bothered. There is more to the story but it can wait.

Ian Hart is arranging Nick's cremation and they have been friends for years. We don't have a date yet as there is a post mortem on Wednesday. Nick seems to have passed away in his sleep and he had recently been suffering badly with his diabetes problems and his vision and had become more or less housebound.

I will post funeral details as soon as we have them and I hope as many of you as are able to will join us in saying goodbye to the Big Man. Ian is looking to arrange a get together afterwards at Chapmans which seems the only place really. Thanks again to all of you, we appreciate all your lovely and funny words about our wonderful brother
