I saw him at The Brighton Centre about ten years ago. He was struggling to remember the words, and sang most of his hits by reading the lyrics from an autocue.

It was sad to see him like this, although there was nothing wrong with his singing voice and the performance was superb.

Glad I saw him. There is a certain time when that sort of cool as hell crooning is bloody perfect. RIP

I have a great soft spot for Mr Williams, fantastic singer, yes some cheesy songs, but, some beautiful emotive ballads too..... RIP.

Ha I see why you picked that song. You only used to go 2 miles off Worthing pier though.

Still, it didn't stop me from drinking my own urine though....

As Albion fans, we've all held what once seemed to be impossible dreams, so this one feels particularly poignant to me.

In the last 11 years have seen him twice at Brighton Centre and 3 times at Albert hall. (Wife a massive fan). Last time was 2/3 years ago and yes he needed the autocue but the performance and his voice were still superb. Also, he has always had a great backing band with a female drummer who was one of the best. The missus has his Christmas Shows on DVD and they still make you feel happy and very festive. Once Tony Bennett goes that will be the end of the 20th century crooners but Andy Williams was one of the greats.

Jack Jones and Englebert are still going, aren't they?
