My brother in law went to Longhill. He's 40 now with two kids in Shoreham-by-sea. In his mispent youth he and some mates used to bully a young lad at Longhill. The ironic thing is that 4 years ago when his first child started primary school at St Peters in Shoreham-by-sea, he went along for a parents evening to meet the teachers and guess who his child's teacher was....

if he is 40 please tell us.

00 - 05 Can still remember when a student friend put a sheep from one of the fields in full school uniform and put it in the head masters office.

And when 'Falmer' would come down and the whole school field would chase them away!

Thats amazing he taught my mum at Longhill and I'm almost 32!

He taught my mum...also

BUT

I'm the same age as 2 of his kids and went to primary/Longhill with them. That link meant that my parents and the Vaughans were/are very good friends and go on holiday together.

I just cant imagine going on holiday with one of my former teachers!

PS - He now has a block named after him after a campaign by past/current students was set up on Facebook.

Always thought Vaughan was a bit of a wanker, if you didn't like rugby he didn't want to know. remember a kid punching him and him falling backwards down the gym steps........brilliant. Mr Lonsdale on the other hand was pure class as a year head, we went to camp in wales and it was my 16th birthday and he took 6 of us down pub and got us well pissed !
Saw murray at a new years eve party that same year in Brighton and said to him " oh mr murray won't you doing here ?"........and his reply............"getting pissed you **** !"

I left in 84 and the names Shaun Sinclair.

Blimey that must have been a risk of the profession as there were a few nutty art teachers at Newman too. For the life of me I can't recall his name but he was there 1977-83. You don't think it was the same one (Hopkins, Simpson??)

What was the name of the art teacher who kept having breakdowns? Not Mr Yotsi (sp) the other one?
