Yet you find it amusing that silvio berlusconi got punched in the face receiving a broken nose and severely lacerated lips ?? 70 odd years old and to quote you " it was frightfully funny", strange standards you've got there .
Yes, because here is a man who has escaped justice through his own political influence, so I do find it hilarious that he got hurt in this way. The man is a wanker.

Actually, I don't have much sympathy for the burgular in your case either. But that doesn't make it right that someone took the law into their own hands.

(If that is indeed this is relevant to this case of a judge simply applying the rule of law to a case in the UK)

" The 'law' of which they speak are statutes, not laws. Statutes are legal instruments (not the use of the word 'legal' not 'lawful') which are given the force of law by the consent of the governed. "

Complete drivel, it is the assent of HM The Queen that gives an Act of Parliament the force of law.

In a Crown Court, a Judge sits below a Royal Coat of Arms, and dispenses THE QUEENS justice.

Not at all drivel, no. That definition is from our own UK statutes! I shall get you the reference.

I take it from that, that you are either a lawyer or illiterate?

One thing is for certain... the ants will soon be here. And I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them... I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.

I've said I have no sympathy for the burgular but you cannot let the attacker get away with that sort over OTT reaction. I have no sympathy for Berlusconi but you can't get the attacker get away with it in that case either.

Genuinely, how is that in any way "double standards"? Or is this the usual "can't be arsed to argue so I'll attempt another crap putdown". A bit like you tried to rubbish Tooting's fairly coherent anti-bankers argument with "you don't know what the f*** you're talking about".

I'll reiterate my position: "Reasonable force" is not enough. There needs to be provisions for a "deterrent force" IMO, but that has to fall short of this sort of derranged attack.

tootings anti bankers rant was complete bollocks thats why, by the way what constitutes a banker , surely that includes you, you work for an investment bank , or are you going to employ a " i was only following orders" nuremberg style defence ?

as ive said before, what part of invasion of home /property are you struggling with ? you're deliberately missing the point.

no, you are just ignoring the question. im understanding your invasion of the home/property, im asking in bushy law were the concepts of property are bound, where you draw the line for crimes that deserve instant, personal retribution in physical violence and where you might want to involve more moderate judicial system. what im highlighting its easy to say, good on him, burglar deserves it, but the implications for our wider society and rule of law are far far worse than such a trivial pub chat acknowledges.

Because each individual's tolerance and reaction levels are different. In this case we are talking about tying up your family in the process of burgling your house. What would you do?

its not about what i might or might not do, its about how the law responds to my reaction if it is outside the law. we do not have the blood fued anymore, we rely on the courts for justice. if i step outside the law i should expect to face the punishment of that just as i expect the burglar to face his punishment. That is the real issue, sadly sidelined by the Daily Mail et al.

As in this case, the offender who was smashed around the head had 50 other convictions. Of course I'm not saying that everyone should go around shooting people US style,

why not? why are you stopping at a beating. summary execution for wrong doing, surely that'll learn 'em.
