Some vague memory of being in pubs in Brighton in the 80s and some bloke used yo come in and sell some sort of seafood? No other details as I hate shellfish, but not the sort of thing you see nowadays, is it?

Yup, there used to be a guy in the Seventies that would come into the Lord Nelson (and presumably elsewhere also) late in the evening with a tray of seafood. We always called him Wally Winkle

When I first met Mrs Zef she had a pad in 7oaks, the Juicer we frequented had a seafood guy who dropped by . . . This was 2002 . . . I don't recall the seafood snakmeister in Shoreham still going at that time . . . .

Probably fashionable to eat now

Having said that landlords/publicans wouldn't let them in these days as it would affect their own sales as 99% of pubs are now restaurants in disguise

Ask him nicely and Andy the Fishmonger at the Open Market can get cockles and winkles. He normally has whelks clams, oysters and mussels in stock. He's a great fishmonger.
