I can't beleive that anyone would really advocate the return of Mayo. He is a conference player at best now and has been for some years. And that's a fact.

I thought both Whing and Richards had bad games in terms of defence yesterday. Shame really, because Whing played a couple of glorious attacking passes in the first half!

As much as I think the thread title is ridiculous, I do think Richards is quite vulnerable and has been skinned a few too many times and opposition have got in behind us down our left quite a few times. Didnt really notice it last year, but have seen it a few times this year. However, I do rate Richards and am in no way advocating dropping him.

I'm not convinced with Richards. He is generally good going forward but his defensive skills aren't that good. He is very easily turned and sent the wrong way.

The problem is that left-back is a position where there is very little competition. I reckon Richards is a great ball player with plenty of ability and composure at this level, but he's not the best defender. Ironically, the reverse applies to Whing.
