Everyone is historically compromised in this scenario. UK and partners for the Balfour declaration and hen the displacement of the Palestinians to create Israel. Americans want Middle Eastern allies. We want Saudi oil. Saudis us and Americans are siding with the Yemenis who are bombing their fellow citizens in a civil war. Russians back Syria. Newcastle and many other clubs take Arab money, as do many financial institutions eg Barclays. How much money has UK plc made by selling weapons to various sides. All a bit of a mess.

I don't think anyone would have a problem with clubs doing something in solidarity with the hundreds of thousands of innocent lives being taken/put in dire risk. That said, on account on him being a prolific instigator of cultural division and genuine purveyor of nastiness, I somehow doubt that's the point of the article though
