[Albion] Returning stuff to club shop without a receipt

A friend asked me if they received a gift they didn't like, and it came from the club shop, would they be able to return it to the club shop for an exchange/credit note/similar if they don't have the receipt because they weren't brave enough to tell the gift purchaser they didn't really like the item in question.

Does anyone know so I can tell my friend?

I'd tell your friend that they are a complete and utter pathetic wimp not asking for the receipt, but I know that you are far better at dealing with people and will be far more subtle and supportive of your friend
