A friend asked me if they received a gift they didn't like, and it came from the club shop, would they be able to return it to the club shop for an exchange/credit note/similar if they don't have the receipt because they weren't brave enough to tell the gift purchaser they didn't really like the item in question.

Does anyone know so I can tell my friend?

What did she buy you?

What’s wrong with this?

I believe legally you just need proof of purchase, ie a receipt or maybe a credit card bill. Either of which the person who bought the gift will have rather than you. You can always ask the club of course.

They used to sell one like this c1979 it was stupidly cheap (less than a quid) but it felt like it was made of paper, I never had one as even at that young age I felt a light shower would have finished it off

Where was the club shop, the hut between the main stand and north stand? I used to buy programmes for other European clubs from the hut.

Loved that programme shop, I used to buy about half a dozen each home match ranging from Stenhousemuir v Alloa to The 1978 European Cup Final, I also ended up with every home match Wrexham played in The Cup Winners Cup.

I’ve still got the lot. European club ties.

Lucky having that programme. That was the most one sided 1-0 win ever, Bruges had a great side at that time including great internationals, but they were outclassed from start to finish.

Legally, you have no right to return at all, unless the item is faulty or not fit for purpose.

I guess the OP knows that, which is why they are asking the question.

True but pretty much every merchant in this country will have a returns policy.
