When the chancellor last tinkered, can anyone remember the "no change age" threshold?March 15th is the spring budget when Jeremy 'Unt will tinker with the state retirement age.
He won't be altering it in our favour.
if you were born in 61 you’re lucky and must have been pre April birth I assume in order to get it at 66. Mrs Amex born Aug 61 doesn’t get hers until 67.When the chancellor last tinkered, can anyone remember the "no change age" threshold?
By that I mean, how close to retirement might one be to expect it NOT to be changed.
I'm 62 now and my state retirement age is 66 - Surely to god that is locked?
Perhaps if under 30 now might find it moves to 70?
Like it or not, he has little choice. People are living longer and in general are more healthy. Many choose to work well into their 60s and beyond and good luck to them. It’s madness for these people to be given free bus travel, cheap rail fares, free prescriptions AND £200 pw - all paid for by the govt that is rapidly running out of moneyMarch 15th is the spring budget when Jeremy 'Unt will tinker with the state retirement age.

I think if my memory is right it was 5 years but i’m probably wrong.
Id have thought it would effect those mid 50’s.
oh well, I’m just about wrong on everything in my postCurrently:
67 if you were born from April 1960
68 if you were born from April 1977

I agree with the principle as people are living far longer than when the first state pension was introduced in 1946, but I'm sure I saw statistics that said life expectancy had peaked and has gone down the last few years ?Like it or not, he has little choice. I suspect any announcement will give at least 10 years’ notice.
Gov websiteThe state pension age is already 67 for those born on or after 6 March 1961.
And 68 for those born 1976.
Gov website
State Pension age is currently 66 and two further increases are currently set out in legislation: a gradual rise to 67 for those born on or after April 1960; and a gradual rise to 68 between 2044 and 2046 for those born on or after April 1977.
Have you both accrued a full state pension? On my retirement at 67, I'll get £188.46 p/w.

It's almost as if you're trying to reassure me that I'm not senile
Yes….i wonder if they will alter the method of calculating the annual increase for following years …especially if inflation remains high10.1% this year alone.
