Retard Welsh Stewards

Think I've seen much worse than yesterday personally. Perhaps a chorus of "stand up if you hate the Welsh" after the first occasion isn't the best way to get the stewards on side...

No, and if the stewards had wanted to be really picky they could have chucked those who sang it out, for racist chanting!

I'd like to put the record as straight as I can on this.

My friend was on the back row, and was sitting on the edge of his seat, you know, the seat is still in th eup position and you sit on the edge. The stewards told him to sit on the seat properly. But with the up and down nature of a match, he ended up sitting on the edge again. The stewards got arsy with him and at half time as he walked out of the stand he was ejected.

I know you should sit down, and if you have paid for seats etc etc etc short people etc, but he was on the back row, sitting on the edge of his seat ffs.

10 mins before the final whistle the stewards withdrew to the front of the stand. When I asked why I was told that they had given up trying to make the Swansea fans sit down, so it was unfair to try and stop us standing. Hypocritical I think, don't you?

Re; the REMF flyers, I was asked by Uncle Speilberg to take them along and distribute them, so I obliged. A couple of kids next to me made a few paper darts out of them and launched them into the crowd. So the Stewards decided this constituted a projectile, and confiscated them from me. Fatboy tried to interject (thanks) but the stewards wouldn't listen. I found the head steward and made my point, first he said I could have them back but if he saw one more paper plane he would find me and eject me, ffs.

Eventually, I made my point a little more and he allowed me to have them back so long as they were put in Superwifes bag and didn't come out again.

I then spoke to the head of security for Swnasea City FC at the end of the game and he just gave all the same bullshit you expect to get. FA rules blah blah blah. He is only doing his job etc etc.

Whatever way I think about this, I just can't believe those stewards were such killjoys. How to make an event totally soulless. Lovely stadium, ruined by people who are not good enough at their jobs to work out what is acceptable or not.

Superphil, you were there? Big up the West Chilt massive.

Also, if you're on the back row, then really, there shouldn't be an issue. No-one is getting their view obstructed.

The police officers on the other hand, were perfecty fine. They let us through some kind of safety barrier without any problem at all.

It was great to here the "Engerland, Engerland, Engerland" chants though from our Mensa brigade.

Remind me of the Croatia and Israel results again?

High up on the South Downs.
So the cost of fighting violence in English /Welsh football has been:
1 Exorbitant admission charges
2 Imposition of all seater stadia against the wishes of most fans.
3 Humourless match experience
4 Stewards made miserable by English/Welsh FA regulations
5 People who want to sit down at away games being bullied by those who don't.
6 The England national team getting worse year by year
7 And our wonderful legal system has enabled Middle England property owners to dictate the sporting agenda in a large conurbation like Brighton and Hove.

I think I need to visit my well-stocked fridge.

I was sitting on the back row about 5 seats along from your friend. I did not know that he had been kicked out at Half time. He was not the only one sitting on the edge of his seat.
Like you say, I can understand if he was sitting in the middle and people behind could not see the game, but when it is the back row. Ridiculous.

Indeed.

After the end of the game, our bus wasn't ready to leave, because Superphil was still in the middle of his robust conversation with the SCFC head of security.

I was asked by a policeman if everyone was on board. "Not yet", I said "One of our number is over there, giving the stewards some grief".

Up pops a more senior policeman, who talks to his colleague: "Are they ready to go?" he asks. "No. One of them is over there, getting some grief from a steward".

In the great game of Stewards v Fans, it would seem from this that the boys in blue have clear expectations about who is going to be giving and receiving grief.

As for the "dangerous projectiles", I shall refrain from shopping the particular NSC member who was manufacturing the paper darts. But she knows who she is. I blame the drink.

which coach were you on Lord B?
The little white one at the back.

And what a fine trip it was. Highlights included the discovery that most of the party were capable of reciting the WHOLE SCRIPT of The Life of Brian, but no-one but me knew more that one line of the original version of Sussex By The Sea.

I hear it kicked off when Millwall came to town this year, and they broke past their security block between them and the Swansea fans,so maybe they've been warned to be extra careful.

Still no reason you shouldn't stand up though.

I didn't have a problem with the stewards. In fact, this was the first game that I've had the courage to actually stand up, clap etc. Thanks to the GDC for helping me on that one.
What exactly did the GDC do? Hold you upright?

That's actually quite accurate. I had my arms held upwards and also in clapping positions. I was also assisted by their encouragement to show my support instead of sitting there with my arms folded.
