Tried Oregano the pizza place in Worthing earlier. Bit under the radar in my opinion.

Pizzas are big, i can put a bit of food away but this was a lot. All being hand made at the front of the restaurant. Nice outside area.

Found the menu pretty interesting topping wise, lots of different combos. The sides of roasted new potatoes, cider slaw were really interesting too. Very different to usual fare

Good alternative to Pizza Face. The only thing was the dough was slightly heavy, but I am a bit sensitive to gluten - but did notice it more compared to Fiordlatte or Pizzaface

I don’t know what it is called but I went to a place near Brighton uni, might have been something to do with compasses as I was in the east room of something.

There were long queues for the food, the pies quite good but the hotdogs pretty jank and no ketchup or mustard to be seen anywhere.

Forgot to say - if anyone has a Amex Platinum - they recently added Little Fish Market & Chilli Pickle to use the £150 annual credit…

As the name suggests, this place is about FIRE which is A Very Good Thing. It might get too much for some. I managed to pack a fair bit away last night. Not convinced by their wine offering: a very small list, with the intention on being different. Being different is fine in the world of wine for me, difference is arguably wine's greatest strength as a drink, but not when it's done at the expense of things like quality and value. That said, the wines we drank (Picpoul, Corvina) were fine, decent enough value, and went pretty well with the food.
It's the food that works best. We met the head chef -- or one of them at least, he's spent a decade or so at Terre a Terre, the other is Isaac from Isaac @ -- who was very humble, was generous with his time, and very talented. The idea is to share stuff, so lots of small plates, and then a few 'set pieces' (rather than main courses). We had:

Small plates:
oyster and cashew larb -- good intensity, very impressed
heirloom tomato salad -- lovely, fresh
some broccoli thing which was OK
mackerel with beetroot and pickled veg -- impressive
aubergine -- nice and smoky, worked really well via the fire
bonfire potato -- I took to this, silky texture for the inside, with crispy skin and whole garlic

Set pieces:
lemon sole with anchovies
celeriac -- also worked great with the fire
tomahawk pork -- also great texture, good intensity

We probably over-ordered by a dish or two, and drank plenty. Came out at £80 a head, which I thought was cracking value (others won't -- it's about the only time I've been out to eat this year). Will be going back.

Palmito, Hove.

Fabulous small new restaurant serving South American/Indian influenced small dishes.

Four of us went and tried the majority of the menu. The scallops and mackerel plates were amazing. Worked out at £60 a head with wine and desserts.

Absolutely packed out with people coming in as soon as a table became vacant.
Very friendly owner who told us that Giles Coren has written a very positive review which will be published soon.

Heading to the Ropetackle at Shoreham the other night, we dropped into The Little Greek to grab a bite to eat. It is a cafe / bakery by day but also serves gyros.

We had the chicken gyros pitta, the chicken was good with nine of the fatty gristley bits you get in some places selling chicken doners. The pitta used for the wrap was fresh and light, the salad was crisp and the oregano fries inside were just right.

The guys who run it are very friendly and it was good value for money. Being a pig, I went for the large pitta and it nearly beat me.

There are a small number of seats inside and out so it just scrapes in for inclusion on this thread.

Talking of Greek, having visited the Van Gogh "immersive experience" at the Dome on Thursday, Mrs. Cowfold and our friends wandered into the Lanes in search of a bite to eat. We quite literally stumbled on the Olive Grove, somewhat of a misnomer it is a Greek Tapas restaurant, serving only small plates and with quite a limited menu.

We sat outside at a nice shaded table, ordered various plates amongst the group of us, moussaka, paidakia (small lamb cutlets), spanokopitta (spinach & feta in filo pastry), octopus, and a horiatiki (Greek salad) amongst others, all washed down with plenty of Retsina. The service was good, the bill wasn't exhorbitant, and we all thouroughly enjoyed it.

Greek food seems to be making a comeback in Brighton, especially with the smaller eateries, I've noticed a couple of newish Gyros establishments on the Lewes Road alone, one of them called the Archipelagos, which has the same name as the full service taverna on the Western Road, whether there is a connection between the two l've no idea.

I’m booked in to Tutto in a couple of weeks which I’m bang up for as they seem to have sorted themselves out after a rough start.

The Fork, Lewes.

Booked into a London Restaurant for a special meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Unfortunately the rail strikes put paid to that.

I’d heard, and read - Grace Dent’s review -good things about The Fork, so we ended up there on Saturday for lunch.

It did not disappoint, fine dining and not a tasting menu in sight!

We went three courses for £35, and for the quality of ingredients and the chefs skills it was very good value. All in with cocktail, beer and two dessert wines £100. Definitely will return.

It’s decent. Sone standout dishes, some average.

Chilli Pickle or Curry Leaf are probably a bit better - but it’d not stop me going to Mowgli

Is Mowgli Street Food any good??

The seating is unusual - looking through the window earlier today it appears that you sit on swings rather chairs.

I did hear that, hopefully they’ve got proper seats for an old bugger like me. 🤓
most of it is booths or benches, only swings in the windows and a few down the back

Not open yet but this sounds interesting. Run by Johnny Stanford who has worked at The Pass, and at one of my favourite recent restaurants, Pascere in Brighton, which unfortunately did not last long.

It’s sharing the upstairs space on Worthing Pier where the Perch is.
