Did Ginger Fox at Shaves Thatch this week. I'd been looking to go there for some time and we were not disappointed. The food and service was excellent.

It's been the Ginger Fox for a long while - we used to go when my son was small - and always been very good. But before that I think that pub actually was called Shaves Thatch. And, yes, every single time

Some brief reviews:

Fat Fig, Chichester

Wanted a Monday lunch in Chichester but Bills and Cote were full so we ended up at the Fat Fig. Mrs DCH had an omelette and I had eggs benedict, both of which were good. Daughter had pancakes but wasn't as keen on them. Would go back again as somewhere for a quick and reasonably priced lunch.

MacMillans Worthing

Last minute booking to celebrate my daughter's exam results. Been meaning to go for years but unfortunately, as it was last minute, I had already had lunch. Didn't go for the steak but had the burger which was very good. Daughter has a couple of their tapas style dishes which were also very good.

My daughter was distracted by a well known youtuber who was sat at the next table. He was wearing something that looked like a kids pyjama top but was probably very expensive. Before he ate his steak, he cut it up into small, bite sized pieces like you would feed a toddler.

Birthday visit for me with the family to the sister restaurant of Ephesus in Brighton. All enjoyed our food but all very full at the end of two courses. Reasonably price for great food and will be back again. Also, very busy for a Tuesday evening.

Oeuf in Hove last week. My missus had wanted to go for a long time so we did for her birthday brunch. It is pretty 'Instagrammable' - it has a NY brunch kind of vibe I'd say, pretty hipster. They specialise in their 'Frumpets' - French Toast style Crumpets. But also serve traditional breakfasts, pancakes etc.

I went for their signature Cheese & Chive Frumpets - very filling, cheesy oniony goodness. Decent Flat white to.

Met up with some friends in London for a pre-theatre dinner and we went to Brasserie Zedel just off of Piccadilly Circus. With so many tip off tourist traps in this part of London, it was interesting to find this gem. The food in the brasserie was good quality and their Prix Fixe at £10.95 for two courses is fantastic value. Most of us went for the steak hache with a peppercorn sauce from this menu which was very good as was the small but very rich chocolate tart. For four of us to have two courses each plus drinks came in at just over £100 including service charge.

The venue itself is worth booking in for alone. You enter from street level into something which looks nice but standard 'French' restaurant style. However, once you get to the stairs, you notice it is all very art deco. The downstairs lobby area looks like an old cinema and the main dining room is a stunning room with vaulted ceilings and very ornate. It appears this was once part of a grand hotel and designed for the Lyons family who used to have the old tea houses across the country.

If you are in the West End want good quality, good value food in a great setting then I highly recommend checking this place out.

Went to Kusaki in the week a Japanese Vegan restaurant in the Preston Circus area of Brighton.
None of us were Vegans but all agreed the food was very good.

On another note went back to the Burnt Orange and was not that impressed after loving the first visit. Great cocktails though. I’ve also found this problem of inconsistency with food at the Coalshed and our friends had similar experiences with the Saltroom.

Genuinely fantastic, authentically Italian pizza which for some bizarre reason is hidden away just North of Lancing train station. It's honestly superb quality and amazing value and I cannot recommend it enough. It's very much like being on holiday. I'm going back ASAP.
