I know these kind of threads have been done to death on here, so apologies for that but my wife is going out with friends saturday night and wants somewhere 'decent' to eat

Any suggestions gratefully received.....

Is the Jamie Oliver place any good by the way?

Another vote for Casa Don Carlos here - I love the place, it's great value and generally just lovely.

Try Days, used to be the old ABC cinema, you can choose Chinese thai or Indian or if your like me all 3. We went in for lunch last week, all you can eat for £6.50 + drinks. The food was brilliant far better than Wokmania, Oh yeah they also have a sushi bar in there,

Just looked at the menu online and dare I suggest that a more adventurous choice of starters, mains and desserts might have made it a bit more special?

yes you do have a point, but we just nipped in on the way back to london after hanover day. We did have a nicer meal the first time we went and had some nice starters and a fancy main with a nice desert and a bottle of house plonk, which came to about £80.00. Which in all fairness was nice food, but £80 worth Naaahhhh.

Terre a Terre is the only sensible option IMO. No meat but their tapas plate is SO good.

I went to Casa Don Carlos on my birthday, for lunch, and it was probably the worst tapas ever, the most dry chicken I have ever had, very over cooked prawns were just a few things wrong. Put me off it, but I have never heard anyone say a bad word?

Casa Don Carlos doesnt sound like my ideal restaurant as I am not a great lover of tapas as to me it seems like a lot of little snacks, like a buffet at a party and not a 'proper meal'

I like meat or fish either plain or in a sauce with potato and vegetables. I very rarely buy pasta in a restaurant because it is so easy to do at home and is dependant upon the standard of the sauce, which any fool can make a reasonable one of with the ingredients and reecipes that are available.

I have had the misfortune to go there twice. You would think I would have learnt after the first time really. Made to feel pretty special when we were asked if we could hurry up so they could get the next mugs in.
