Maybe I'm more mature (older!) than Rospants..when I was younger if a bloke invited me to his place for a meal it was usually just an excuse to get me there alone, whereas taking me out for a meal meant he was interested in me for more than just sex!!
But maybe these days things are different and she would appreciate you making an effort to cook, especially if you don't normally do that sort of thing!
Just be really apologetic (not over the top) and if she cares for you, she'll forgive you
