I went to HongKong SiuMei on Kenny Gardens last week in NORTH LAINE for a little lunch.
Just had a simple crispy pork belly with rice and a cucumber salad but what I had was very pleasing. Gonna revisit this week and have a few more bits to give it a proper go. Would highly recommend for a decent cheap lunch and certainly for an early dinner where you can get lots of different stuff. Service was very friendly and attentive and the place is nice and CLEAN.
7/10 but that's just a baseline score for the moment as I only had one dish. Wil give the gyoza a go next time as that's a good barometer I reckon.
I nearly recommend Oshio but I think I’d read you’ve done that?It's very good value, and they're willing, but wasn't taken with it. We shared the pickles and cucumber salad -- the former you'll get much better versions of at just about any Japanese joint, the latter weren't a patch on what you'll get in the delightful (and rarely mentioned on here) New Era. My partner then had the bao (I don't get bao) which was OK, as was my roast duck ramen. Plenty of duck and it was OK, but the rest wasn't really up to what you'd get at Wagamama just round the corner. I wish them well as they're good people, but I'd rather pay a bit more for each dish to get an upgrade in quality.

Never heard of an Italian restaurant running out of doughOn a slightly related note, where is good to eat in Worthing? We wandered around before and after dough-gate looking for somewhere, but nothing appealed at all.
I was lost for words – it's the equivalent of a pub running out of beer! The fact that the waitress didn't tell us before we ordered made it all the more crazy...Never heard of an Italian restaurant running out of dough

Anywho, as it happens, Mrs Bobkin and I DID go to somewhere we know – Fratelli's in Worthing – yesterday for a bit of pre-Cinema grub. It's always been OK (gone downhill since it was Brio's and has been VERY quiet on the handful of times we've been in this year), but what happened next was bizarre. Essentially, we ordered dough balls and, before we could give our mains (Mrs B going to have a pizza), we were told that they didn't have any dough!
So an Italian restaurant has no dough ready two hours after it had opened? We didn't bother to ask why or how on earth that can ever be a thing but, fair to say, we won't be rushing back in a hurry. Or maybe ever!
