I wasn't sure restaurants actually existed in Ltllehampton, Last time l was there, last summer, l had a bite to eat at that RNLI place. It was quite pleasant to be fair.

I have a clear view on that question: No, I think you've provided sufficient input on NSC for a day, and should treat yourself with a glass from Chieti.

Meanwhile (and I'm deliberately mentioning rather than quoting the post here!) [MENTION=27447]Goldstone1976[/MENTION] has just set the bar about as high as it is possible to be set, review wise. Read it on the train home and highly entertaining it was too. That's my two line summary of Kokoro in Uxbridge Hight Street dragged in to the Recycle Bin anyway.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! But, do post your review - all are potentially valuable. You never know when I might next be in Uxbridge High Street.
If you ever find yourself in Uxbridge High Street do yourself a favour, walk back to the tube station, catch the Metropolitan Line back in to the centre of London and go and eat somewhere nice that isn't full of Boris Johnson voting freaks with more tattoos than teeth.
Aye, December is the ‘Mouth to Mouth’ run - Shoreham to Littlehampton (up the Downslink, along the South Downs Way from Botolphs to Amberley and then down the Arun). Lovely route as long as the Arun bit isn’t too muddy that time of year.....will hopefully get to the Boathouse before then though [emoji106]

You know you're getting old when you got to a hotel restaurant and, even more so, one that specialises in traditional cuisine and doing things simply but well. The restaurant critics have come out in numbers praising this simplicity and tradition as a welcome antidote to superstar chefs and their tasting menus. I can see what the critics are getting at, although I won't enthuse about it quite as much as they have done.
I was with some former colleagues from the wine industry (one of whom has a 30% discount from working in the food industry, which softened the blow of the bill somewhat), so we had a go at their wine list, which in keeping with tradition, is very much oriented towards the classics. The wines were mixed, with a pricy Nuits St Georges rather disappointing. The best wines were two of the whites we had, a 2015 Chassagne Montrachet from Bernard Moreau (I have a case of their basic Bourgogne which is lovely) and a 2014 Coutet, the best of the reds being a 2005 Ormes de Pez.
Oysters were great; bread rolls OK; smoked eel from their smoked fish trolley as good as to be expected, but slightly let down by a timid horseradish (which would have been better termed as a creme fraiche) sauce; cote de bouef well executed; a lovely tarte tatin with armagnac ice cream; and some decent cheeses. All solid, reliable, well executed, but nothing there to make you go wow. Very good service, and we were well cared for by the sommelier, despite him recommending the NSG (he did have other successes).
As comfortable as all this was, I won't be dashing back in a hurry, in we all agreed that we'd much rather return to Medlar (which allowed us to BYO, which made it far more reasonable) which we attended last time we met in London a year ago.

In other news, the number 1 restaurant in all of Brighton is, bizarrely, according to me Facebook feed and also according to tripadvisor... the Station pub by Preston Park station! WTF?!

It's been well and truly Gastro-pubbed. Bloke who coaches my son's football team knows them and recommended it to us but we've not been yet. I suspect they needed to gentrify it after it was covered in puked up Kobe beef by an unruly oik
