Hello Seagulls, another Owl in peace...

That first half your lads served up last night was quite brutal watching for a Wednesdayite.

Fantastic energy matched with brilliant, incisive football... we could easily been harried into complete collapse.

Your players also seem to have a bit of nastiness about them, which is no bad thing in a football team.
(And to be truthful, I wish my team had a little more cynicism when required...).

Obviously, the instruction from Mr.Hughton was to go straight for the jugular and not let Wednesday settle.

Any chance to draw a foul (or something that looked like a foul...) around the box was taken, leading to some v.dangerous set pieces.

Your fans were also magnificent, as they'd also been in the second half at Hillsborough to be fair.

Obviously, at actual matches all the bitter, moaning, "poor unlucky cheated Brighton" lot on here are outnumbered by more positive souls.

Which is good!

Thanks for the post, always good to hear from opposing fans in a sensible manner! I was at the game and despite the result, had a great time, tarnished with the obvious disappointment of the season outcome.

Hope we can go one better next season - good luck v (probably) Hull!

Well I haven't moaned.I think it's quite common for 4 players to go off injured within 50 or so minutes. In fact I looked it up and apparently
it happens as often as 1 in 256985965 games.

I couldn't agree more with the original poster. I'm a Wednesday fan and I'd have thrown in the towel after 20 minutes, I couldn't see a way out alive. It was difficult watching and the hammering we took in the first half, took some of the shine off getting to the final (for me anyway). Could have been 6-2 at half-time, no doubt. Thought Wednesday were better in the second half, but how Westwood didn't get MoM I'll never know. I thought at times on Friday at Hillsborough, it was men against boys- Wednesday played very well, buoyed by the crowd. But in the first half last night, it was men against toddlers. If I was a neutral, I'd say you were robbed... but I wont go that far, as I'm not :)

One of your fellow fans apologised to me on the way down to the station last night. It was very late and he was extremely "emotional" but he genuinely seemed distressed and kept talking about what you "had done to us"...

It was funny as I really wasn't that bothered by that point. You talk about low expectations as a Wednesday fan but as a Brighton fan I was just delighted that our team had turned up so well for a big match and that our fans had been exceptionally good too.

I agree with him entirely, this sentimental bollox is little more than posturing

FWIW I've a long held loathing for your club, the right of entitlement is right up there with the best of them all, Leeds.

I very much hope that Hull do you over and you return to mid table obscurity

Cheers!

Not very nice is it? Look at Wednesdays history compared to us?

Nice to hear from some decent Wednesday fans again as far as I'm concerned. I was less impressed by the coach load who decided to dance around our coach, banging on the sides, stamping on Brighton flags, laughing, and making mock "aww, you're crying" faces, complete with rubbing eyes and sticking out bottom lips after the game. Pretty uncalled for in the circumstances, but hey ho, we didn't rise to the bait, as tempting as it was to get off the coach and lamp one for good measure.

Actually, given the situation, I didn't think Westwood was that bad. We've seen worse in less important scenarios. Obviously I was booing like a looney and calling him all the names under the sun yesterday though.

Forestieri's a cheating, niggly **** though. Which is a bit of a shame, because he's a fine, fine player.

Thought Wednesday defended heroically at times, real bodies on the line stuff. How we weren't away and clear after 30 mins I'll never know.

Worth pointing out (in the interests of fairness) that I think it was Forestieri that went to the Wednesday fans when they held on to the ball to waste time and told them to lob it back.

Hello Rugrat,

I'm sorry you feel like that.

I was, along with many other Sheffielders, genuinely awestruck by your teams first half performance yesterday and merely wanted to pass that on.

Luckily for us, you didn't manage to fashion more than one goal, but having seen Brighton at Hillsborough twice this season,
let me tell you last night seemed to come out of nowhere.

You could almost see the shock on our players faces, they really weren't expecting that level of intensity and incision.

It's ironic that you talk about Wednesdayites "right of entitlement" considering how much has been said on here and elsewhere
about how unfair the playoff system is and how you shouldn't have to play a side you are clearly better than having finished 15 points above.

(To be fair, I reckon a lot of the moaning is a result of playoff fatigue. You've been in the playoffs a lot recently without getting the required result.
That's going to get wearing and possibly lead to thoughts about being unlucky etc.).

Anyway, don't be fooled by Owls going on about being "massive" and all that, we're taking the piss out of ourselves.

Sheffield Wednesday haven't been a power in English football since the second world war, and we conceded our place as Yorkshire's biggest
club in the 60's... To bleeding Leeds of all people.

Even getting near to the playoffs is novel for Wednesdayites, please forgive us a little giddiness.

It was Forestieri....

I saw good and bad Sheffield Wednesday fans after the game so to taint them as all the same is bollox.

I met a couple of different SW fans before the game on the train and they were all of the idea that you got where you are by the skin of your teeth, and that was before the game (over achieved one said). So I dont agree that your fans think they 'deserve' PL football either or thats you are 'massive'. I thought you were decent football fans who appreciated where you were.

There were a couple of bell ends, both ours and yours that squared up to each other. But thats the odd one from what I saw.

We haven't gone up this season because we just werent good enough. Close but not quite good enough. Gutting that a +3 more goal difference would have done it, but still thats football and gives us something to talk about, get exicted about and get depressed about. We can moan about Mike Dean, 4 injuries in one game, Stephens Red Card and so on.. but in the end we didnt have that decisive cutting edge needed.

Hope you have a good trip to Wembley. I think Hull will clinch it, but I hope you give a good account of yourselves and enjoy your day.

I hope we can play that first half display regularly next season, we have been guilty of playing very defensive football at times at home against lowly opposition.
I selected your side to win the play offs so wish you all the best in the final

Completely agree. Weds have plenty of nice supporters of course, like every club, but their dickhead quota is unusually high. For this reason alone I would hope Hull go through.
