Won 6-2, despite going behind after 20 minutes (shocking defending for the opening goal - straight down the middle from a goal kick)

Probably had 85% of the possession against a side whose Manager quit on Monday evening and who are destined to fall back into the County League.

I thought George Barker looked good up front (played with Torbjorn Agdesten) and I was impressed with Leon Redrood at right back. Connor Wilkins did OK too.

The Norwegian could (should) have had 4 or 5, got in excellent positions but denied by poor finishing and some excellent goalkeeping (Keeper at YM is on loan from Charlton.) Toby eventually went off injured.

Poyet
Tanno
Oatway
Hinch
Bragg
Wilkins (dean)

all in attendance.

Reserves tonight?

Can anyone confirm the result from tonight?

Just read the report, and it appears we won 6-2 against (I think) Horsham YMCA.

But I had to read to the third parargraph to find out who it was we were playing, and the last para to work out we scored six.

I think.

Barker Hat-Trick Seals Cup Romp
By Luke Nicoli

George Barker netted a hat-trick as Albion secured their passage into the third round of the Sussex Senior Cup.

Fielding a team made up of Development Squad players, Charlie Oatway's side put in a competent display and despite a couple of scares, were worthy winners.

One of those came on nine minutes when Conor Wilkins, playing at centre-half, failed to deal with a long punt forward and YMCA skipper Tony Reid was on hand to drill home.

The goal came against the run of play, with Albion dominating possession, although clear-cut chances were at a premium.

Barker missed a good chance to equalise on 24 minutes when he latched onto a fine ball from James Smith, but keeper Conor Gough stood firm.

But he made amends just two minutes later, stabbing home in a crowded six-yard box after Smith's close-range effort had been cleared off the line.

Albion took the lead eight minutes before the break when central midfielder Ryan Thomson played a delightful through ball to Smith, whose low cross from the left was steered home by skipper Grant Hall.

The goal, and Thomson's ball in particular, would have delighted Gus Poyet and Mauricio Taricco, watching on from the stands.

Torbjorn Agdestein missed a golden opportunity to extend Albion's lead on 58 minutes when he dragged wide and it proved costly as Horsham equalised in the very next attack - Gavin Gordon heading home a deep Antoine Douglas cross from the left.

Albion again got their noses in front nine minutes later when a quick Ryan Simmonds throw down the right released Agdestein and his low cross was turned in by Smith.

Barker then netted a fine individual goal for Albion's fourth on 73 minutes, skipping past two challenges before tucking home from the edge of the box - and with a two-goal cushion, Horsham's plucky challenge was over.

The Albion striker then sealed his hat-trick four minutes later when he met Yaser Kasim's pass before drilling home.

Substitute Jordan Woodley then made it six with seconds remaining, drilling the ball into roof of the net from 12 yards.

Albion: Walker; Redwood (Woodley 82), Wilkins, Hall, Matutu; Simmonds, Thomson, Kasim, James Smith; Agdestein (Hider 71), Barker. Subs not used: Vickers, James (GK).

Redwood playing at right-back seems a bit odd, he is (or was) an attacking midfielder.
