For us;

Sullivan 6. Good handling. Great kicking. Maybe could have saved the second goal

Reid 8. MOM. Great goinf forward especially. Set up Dixon for a great chance that would have put us 2-1 up.

Rents.4 in his defence, he was up against their best player, Thomson, but he had a bit of a mare.

Pearson 5. Looked okay when he wasn't falling over all the time.

Beda 5. Mostly comfortable. Bad mistake for the third goal.

Fraser 5. Temper temper Tommy.

Martot 6. Quiet but effective.

McFaul 4. Gave the ball away, pretty much every time he got it.

Loft 7. A few hollywood balls across field. A few mazy runs. Entertaining at least.

Dixon 6. Lively first half. Good in the air for a small guy. Missed 2 really good chances at 1-1.

Gatting 8. Scored from the edge of the box. Had another 4 good goal efforts including one brilliantly saved by the keeper, and a header from a corner headed onto the unerside of the bar by the defender on the line.

Subs:

Bryant 6. On at HT for Pearson. Did fine

French. On late for Rents. Couple of strong challenges.

Foreman. On late for Dixon.

Them

McGoldrick, Thomson, Hamill (on loan from Liverpool) and the CB Lloyd something stood out, as did the sub Kieran Forbes.

Really annoyed with Southampton Football Club... I phoned up their ticket line to find out the location of the game, they said "St Mary's", so I met my mate there at 6.30, to find the game is being played at their training groud.

What a load of jokers! I hope they go down

based on that then, would you rather see gatting up front on saturday should forster not be fit?

Yes Scotty, on balance I would.

It;s quite difficult though, as they are different players. Dixon in terms of playing style is a more obvious replacement, unless Murray is comfortable leaving Gatting to do 'his' job of winning the headers, and pushing further forward himself. Gatting did more last night to earn the chance.

Let's cross our fingers that Forster's okay, though.

I also think that Reid should be the first name on the bench - he was excellent last night.

i didnt think dixon did much at luton at all, and he has been getting pretty poor reviews in the reserves from one of the blokes i know who watches them quite regularly

trouble with gatting is, if he doesnt score he will instantly have the crowd on his back, and when you are a confidence player as he appears to be then a withdean crowd expecting a win is not the easiest place to perform

Well he looked like he had plenty of confidence last night. He won nearly everything in the air, was happy to shoot on site, and oddly, he even looked quite quick.
