Nice thought, but wouldn’t we be in Man Utd/Ronaldo territory with this one? Smashing bloke that Messi is, unlike CR7, it could upset the apple cart with him being pandered to both on and off the pitch. Cue team morale dissipating to be replaced by resentment?
All hypothetical, of course. I'm not sure it necessarily would. I suspect Ronaldo might be a more 'difficult' personality - and maybe the Brighton team/squad ethic is a bit stronger than United's was, pre-Ten Haag.

I think this is a goer.

Messi will feel almost duty bound to sign for us. We are, after all, the club of Ally Mac, the man who more than any other enabled Messi to win the world cup and put to bed the one doubt hanging over his head. Messi has now completed football and that is basically thanks to Ally Mac.

How could he not come and give us a couple of season service?

I'd say this is an almost 100% nailed on done deal.

If your after serious suggestions, then someone like xavi simons or enzo or fee would do nicely. Actually wouldn’t also mind picking aaronsen up from Leeds if they’re relegated

In the context of beating Newell’s Old Boys and Inter Miami to a signing, this is actually realistic.

The club would make millions in extra marketing deals and TV appearances which Messi can have a big slice of. If this signing means Ally Mac and Caicedo stay another season, I think this would be well worth the £10m+ we’d pay him (which is not much more than Forest pay Lingard) for a one year contract.

If Newell’s Old Boys and Inter Miami can dream of Messi, why can’t we?

We’d better act quickly though, Inter Miami and Newell’s Old Boys are circling!
You mean Newell’s Old Boys and Neville’s Old Boys?

Does it need saying that this is completely unrealistic? Not only would Messi not choose to play for a small provincial club that won't be in the Champions League, Bloom would not involve himself in the media circus that would follow him. Sustainability and succession planning is the mantra. Asking RDZ to change his football to accommodate a 36 year old has no future, however brilliant he might be in the short term. It's nice to dream, but this is just a dream.

No, it doesn't need saying. We know!

Of course it is just a dream. That said, I'm pretty f***ing sure RDZ would be quite pleased with doing a change or two to accomodate Lionel Messi...
