Replacement for Football Sim Game

OK - this may cause much gnashing of teeth or great amounts of apathy. But after the end of the current season of Football Simulation, I am looking to start a new game - this time with more user input. It is based on software that is designed to run a league by email so it should be just the thing. You can choose your own team name and squad and then pick your team each week. You can set formations and playing style. Injuries, suspsions etc all happen as well as match reports. There are lots of bits of software to make the experience more enjoyable. I have put 2 links to 2 examples below. The first is a Sky Sports style vidiprinter with all the goals and action. The second is a Championship Manager style interface that lets you watch the match unfold (No interaction though as you are playing another human)

To use the software in the second link, just unzip it, run the exe and load the demo_game.txt file to see how it would work.

Let me know if you are likely to be interested. Hopefully, more interaction will improve the experience. If we get enough interest and players, I might put up some trophies to increase the interest.

You write this gear or is it otherwise obtained?

I wish! It's based an old DOS program and it has lots of add on programs that allow you to have referees, realistic attendances etc. All clever stuff and it's used to run a fair amount of games on the web. Most of whom charge £1.50 a turn. I must be mad doing it for free!

IAh well. If it had been yours I was going to mug you for the source code so I could drag it over to BeOS.

Some day, I'll be writing OpenCM using SDL so it runs on anything. Some day....

Wait - did you just say its a DOS programme?

*fires up the BeOS DOS subsystem, albeit not much more than DOSBox*

lets see does this work

OK, but how often do we have to turn up to play, and are we bound to slump if we don't appear to make changes for a couple of weeks or so. A problem for those of us who don't work with computers, like in the jungle and stuff.

If you don't make changes then the team will stay the same. If you don't post and you need to replace an injured player then I will do it for you. Shouldn't be a problem.
