Played for the same Japanese team as Mitoma.
Now see that the original post stated this too, although other similarities including age and progress through a University team.

@Mt.Fuji mentioned him as a possible Mac replacement.
I like him very much. He is very versatile too (he is a playmaker and he mainly plays as a midfielder but he plays as a fullback too). Many Scottish football media and Celtic fans say Reo Hatate is the best player of Scottish league this season. Just like Mitoma, Reo Hatate was playing in Japan's university football league and he has played as a professional footballer for only a few years yet, which makes many people underestimate him. Actually, university football is very serious here in Japan. 10 of Japan's FIFA World Cup Qatar squad used to play in the university football league, including Mitoma.

I hope we’re keeping an eye on Jota also. He’ll be one who could handle the step up.

Japanese football Youtubers are already uploading videos on Hatate moving to Brighton 🤣

You see "FW35/Hatate, Reo" in the picture below. FW means Forward. So, Hatate started his professional carrier as a forward, but actually, he has been playing as a midfielder and a fullback. He is very versatile. He is good at passing, shooting and dribbling. I hope Brighton will actually get Hatate and Hatate will play very well for Brighton ;)

His name is Reo and he came here from Japan
Moves like a river twisting through our Sussex land
And when he shines, he really shows you all he can
Oh Reo, Reo score in front of the North Stand
After reading the first post I thought, if we sign him we'll be getting a Rio to go with Karoo, and a few posts down.. :lolol:

If it wasn't for the fact that it came from the source-less, quote-less, rumour-machine that is Football Insider, I'd be getting excited. Honestly, that website is utter, utter trash.

Cracking player though from what I've seen (note, it's very little)

Have Celtic fans started telling the world that Brighton would be a step down for him yet? :moo:

I would welcome it, but not convinced the story is based on actual info.
