Hello all,

I'm sure somebody on here will have one or children have them...

just wondering if they are any good, even if it will be entertaining for about a week?

any suggestions on what one is at least half decent?

I've had a few of them, never been able to fly them properly, they go up too quickly veer off and hit walls then crash behind the heaviest object in the room, remind me of a crane fly.

The wife got me one for my birthday. Quite entertaining. Until the cat wanted to kill it. And my son wanted to try and fly it (he's two next month!). But don't fly when drunk. So hard!!

I bought one for my son last year - Syma 107G or something like that. Incredible, well balanced, accurate and precise control, but he managed it with no bother. About £14 from Amazon.

Yeah got one last Christmas and they are bloody lethal if not in the right hands. I've nearly smashed the house up try to fly the damn thing but then my 7 year nephew got hold of it and flew it around no problem. Conclusion - good for kids but not old gits!!

My friend had a half decent outdoor one - Played with it at a BBQ in the summer but it flew out of range of the controller and flew off into the distance never to be seen again

Not sure of the range of the copter but if any one finds it in the Kings Drive area of Eastbourne - Please can we have it back

I guess we were lucky by virtue of no reports it didnt crash into something/someone

I've got one, got a bit bored after a week but then I made some obstacle courses in the front room, much more entertaining, my mate got one too, on a different frequency, so we can could have a dog fight, race, etc, but we haven't done one yet.

Oh, and I'm a young 34.

Excellent, thinking about getting one for my brother for Xmas, he loves gadgets and ive seen them, they look perfect, no doubt it will be gathering dust after a week, but should be entertaining xmas day, no doubt he will piss everyone off and I can sit back and watch the destruction.

we got one in the office here... I can make it hit the floor at incredible speed...

I prefer the zeppelins with little engines.... much easier to control...

Somebody brought one of these to work, and it seemed pretty decent..

Got my Dad one like this a year or so ago. Still works really well, he loved it as do my kids. The decent ones you can trim and once set up properly they're great fun. I have a cheaper basic one and I needed to put bluetac on the nose of it to balance it properly.

I second this but at least you don't feel too guilty when you dive bomb the cat..............by accident

Neither here nor there
My son has had two. The first one was great until a vital strut on the body snapped and made the thing unable to fly - maybe it could have been repaired but we guessed that would cost more than buying a new one.

The second, with the camera on it, was sturdier and a lot of fun but after a week or so we found that even with a full charge it couldn't take off properly any more.

My advice is to avoid the cheap ones. They are surprisingly tough when it comes to bouncing off walls and falling from great heights but eventually something will go wrong and your son could end up with a present that doesn't do what he wanted it to do.
