......that lost their lives at Hillsborough 21 years ago today.

Saturday 15th April 1989 was the blackest day in English football. Things had to change afterwards with the police's attitude towards fans. At the time i had family up there when i was 11 and felt the awful pain and anguish in the city.

So remembering those poor, innocent 96 Liverpool fans that were crushed to death on the terraces. You'll never be forgotten.

This thread has been done many times. To avoid offence to anyone perhaps it should be locked?

FFS only on post 6 and already Heysel is being brought up, yes I remember well the horrific scenes that night in Belgium, and a dead Italian fan has brought as much heartache to his/her friends and family as a dead Liverpool fan has to theirs. I remember the Bradford fire too and the 9/11 attacks and the death of my 19 year old nephew in a road accident, Today is April the 15th a day to remember the Liverpool fans who died.

why should a thread be locked simply because SOME people have no respect for the living, let alone the dead, and are using it as an example to simply make a name for themselves

Not everybody has the same views as yourself. This thread has been done many times and it always ends up as a slanging match. Maybe it should be avoided in memory of those that died?

(don't normally share this info, but 21 years is a whole lifetime and a poignant reminder that puts most things into some kind of perspective)

I was working in Liverpool at the time. I remember watching it on TV not realising just how awful it was.

Regardless of whether it was Hillsborough, Heysel, Bradford, the young lad at Birmingham Leeds, bloke at Tottenham tube, the Leeds lads in Istanbul or anyone else for that matter. These people left their houses to go and watch a game of football, something we do week in week out and don't give it a second thought, only to return in a wooden box!

That I can't get my head round!

RIP

I remember after we played Spurs at the Goldstone in 1978 we had the fences put up because of their actions. I thought not long into the 78/79 season that those fences would one day cause serious problems as people could not escape. Shame I was right.

I remeber vividly where I was and what I was doing when the Hillsborough disaster unfolded and will never forget it. Strangely the only other events that I wasn't personally involved in or at (sport on tv or radio excluded) would be John Lennon's shooting, Lady Di's car crash and 911.......

RIP indeed....
