Nope. We went there quite early on the following season, and won 2-1 again
That was the one where a fan jumped out of the crowd, ran up and kicked John Robinson. Beeney came STEAMING out of his goal, grabbed the fan by his collar and belt, and hurled him straight to a copper who was patrolling the touchline.

Yes, I think you're right. Beeney was in the stands having a hotdog. This was in the days you didn't have a spare goalie named among the subs, so Lloyd must've got special dispensation from the ref to alter the teamsheet.

That series of games will live long in the memory, we somehow mounted a promotion challenge even though we couldn't defend for toffee, negative GD wasn't it as well? I was in the North when Wilkins found the top corner with the last kick of the match at home to Ipswich. We had to win to deny Barnsley(?) the final place. Everyone held their breadth as Byrne went off injured in the challenge and Wilkins stepped up. Saw their keeper fly to the right but he couldn't get near the ball as it nestled in the net. Bedlam followed!
Then the first leg, I could only get a ticket in the lower West near the Northstand, could see about 400 Millwall in the lower left of the north, separated by a line of policeman around them. That second half was magic, goal after goal went in with Millwall fans on the farside getting more and more irate, trying to get onto pitch towards the end but not getting through.
Lets hope for more memories like the above come St Patricks Day!

Homophobia was much less of an issue then, racism against Small, Codner took centre stage if I remember rightly. Although, as has been pointed out, hatred of the police was top of the list in that part of Sarf Lunnon. After the game, the police tried to clear the home fans whilst we were kept in. They started some small newspaper fires (not 'setting fire to the ground') and a copper's helmet was purloined and ended up on top of the stand roof to our left.
I remember there being worse violence in a late 80s game there, when they were fighting among themselves in the home cage next to us and a copper's helmet was spun up in the air just like a cartoon dust/arms/legs melee.

We have a very good recent record at the New Den, just looked it up:

The home game was amazing. That, and the Ipswich game that preceeded it, were two of my favourite ever Albion matches at the Goldstone.
The highlights convey a little bit of how "lively" it was. Big group of 'Wall in the east bit of the North Stand and a mini invasion from us on each one of the four goals. I also remember some mental, toothless old docker type trying to invade from the East when we scored either the third or fourth.
On the day Codner, Walker and Small were unplayable. The commentary eludes to a difficult season and it certainly was - we finished 7th with a negative goal difference - but on that glorious Sunday we could have beaten anyone.
Shame about Wembley mind....

Enjoyed seeing Paul Stephenson celebrate his goal again. Not very Millwall.
I alluded to this a little while ago.
AMEX era Jnr Stat has been completely deprived of such emotions.
He thinks the Albion are bloody good and they'll win soon enough.
The poor lad doesn't understand the the drudgery of supporting the Albion, season after season of bilge.
The most insipid of seemingly endless fixture lists, punctuated by one moment, one goal, one game that makes EVERYTHING alright in the world.
Ian Chapman's goal v Bournemouth on the wettest of wet nights probably fueled my Albion support for 3 seasons, in the hope I'd see something like that again.
Poor Jnr starts with Buckley scoring in the 97th minutes and with the exception of the odd bump in the road, has never had to look back since.
Did the old docker bloke have a long raincoat/ Mac on?
I seem to remember an old fella, about 60-70 trying to invade the pitch after each goal, and then finally getting nicked, really amused me at the time.
Yep that's the bloke, kept us amused as well.

Excellent nostalgia.
Was at the home game but as a ripe eleven yr old my dad didn’t fancy taking me to the away game.
Some casual observations:
Millwall fans in the South Stand celebrating their goal - someone flicks the v’s at them but no actual animosity. Was a common sight back in the day.
Millwall players give each other kiss on the cheek after the goal. Can imagine their fans would linch them for that today.

Was on a end of season holiday somewhere in Spain with Southwick FC the day of the first game so missed it.
In those days you couldn`t get any coverage so phoned home to find out what the score was and when my Mum said 4-1 I assumed it was to Millwall, couldn`t believe we had won so convincingly and ran back to the pool to tell everyone else.
Got back in time for second leg and went to the Old Den, great night.

I had just turned 14 and remember it like yesterday. First (of only a few) memories of footy violence. Remember the police going round the outside of the pitch towards the end and one of them lot nicking his hat before setting fire to it and lobbing it on the roof of the stand didn't he?
There was a grass bank behind our stand off to the left, and a lad about 10-15m along from me had a stone thrown at him from some of their fans on the outside. Hit him in the eye and had blood pouring from it.
Remember being held in at the end so the home fans could "disperse quietly" and my dad asking the copper next to us if he was giving us an escort out the ground to which he replied "f*** off I"m not going out there!"

Stefan Lovan playing as a sweeper?
Getting battered by them until we got our first, they then capitulated.
The roars for each of our goals seemed louder than the last.
As an 8 year old it was my first full season as an Albion fan and I can honestly say that was the game when I knew I'd be a Brighton fan for the rest of my life.
