72 points and a good goal difference will get us play off's. I dont think Tranmere are as much of a contender. It's between us and Leeds for 6th, a win against Southend, or, if Forest have a major dip, would however, drag one of them into it.

Big midweek games. Carlisle and Donny home to Forest and Leeds respectively.

2 home's please

Can't see Forest beating Carlisle, or even getting a point for that matter.

Donny v Leeds is another matter. Donny have been unpredictable as of late, and I think Leeds will fancy their chances.

The Walsall v Tranmere game next Saturday could define our chances.

Assuming Leeds win their game in hand, we need to overhaul both them and Tranmere. A win for the Merseysiders on Saturday will make it a very hard task for us.

I still expect us to finish eighth. We are not going to catch Donny, Southend or Forest.

I reckon we could catch Forest. They play Carlisle away tuesday and cant see them getting anything there. theyve tough games coming up too.

Bristol R (H)
Tranmere (A)
Hartlepool (A)

And Yoevil at home last game. Not good memories of Yoevil have they!

Still to close to call.

If we don't beat Southend then we have no chance.

But what if we win the other 5 ?
I`d take 15 points. I think you would find that that would guarentee it.

Here are Leeds and Tranmere's remaining fixtures...

Leeds
Doncaster (A)
Leyton Orient (A)
Carlisle (H)
Huddersfield (A)
Millwall (A)
Yeovil (A)
Gillingham (H)

They will drop points in the first three games of the run-in, I'm sure of that. Then they have three away games on the bounce, I reckon they will also drop points in these matches as well.

Tranmere
Walsall (A)
Forest (H)
Huddersfield (A)
Southend (H)
Northampton (A)

Three of their remaining five games are tricky, and I can see them losing to Southend and Walsall, maybe even Forest?

This 5 point business is madness, you can't make decisions like that at the toe end of the season.

No way jose! Not without a fight, I hope every club in the league protests against this because it's not on!

They accepted the punishment earlier on in the season. Now they are a little further down the table they have changed their minds! Leeds scum

I would take our run in over any of the other teams pushing for the play offs. With two of the bottom clubs to play wins will see us putting real pressure for results on the sides around us.

Loads of Leeds fans banging on about their points yesterday shows how desperate they have become. If this was being discussed at xmas I could seethis happening but can't see the league doing this as this stage in the season and i they do it will be appealed by all of the clubs

What annoys me is why do these decisions always get contested should the football authorities not make sure these decisions are watertight before making them??

Agree except about not catching Forest.

I only think we will need about 11 or 12 points to make the playoffs. Tranmere and Leeds as has been said have got very hard run ins and are sure to drop points. Forest could also end up being caught if their poor form keeps on.

I disagree, I think we might well get beat at Southend but that will be our only defeat at the end of the season and I have us finishing 6th with 73 points.

I think we can catch Southend: they will trip up in the run in, they're not the real deal. As someone else has said, the game vs them is the most crucial

If we were to win on Saturday AND at Southend [where we always lose :jester:] then we would be looking VERY good indeed.

Eh? How do you work that out?

My guess:

Port Vale - Win
*Southend - Lose
*Luton - Lose
Hartlepool - Win
Bristol Rovers - Win
Swansea - Win

12 points - not sure whether it'll be enough.

*we ALWAYS lose away to these two.

On current for we should get 11 points from these games which will probably not be enough.

But remembering the doom and gloom of Jan, getting anywhere close in the last six games is a result.
