That's an interesting and popular view among many who once loved or admired them, and one I have some sympathy for. To me they were never quite the same after Bill Berry left but they have made some excellent songs, if not albums since, and provided some amazing live moments up 'til the end. I remember hearing Sitting Still for the first time live on the last gig I saw them play at The Rose Bowl in Southampton and Maps and Legends in Hyde Park. Wouldn't have missed either for the world.

Got into them around the time of Fables of the Reconstruction and thought they peaked with Out of Time. They lost me with Automatic for the People which to me was too much generic American standard indie rock.
