Hands up if anyone here has ever been proved correct after posting a rumour from a "reliable source" here which ended up happening?

I heard from a genuinely reliable source that we'd be getting Man Utd for an Amex friendly - now that it's turned out to be Spurs, I feel extremely pleased I didn't post it on here.

So, has anyone ever been proved right?

I heard about Bloom taking over and paying for the stadium about 5 days before it was announced, but didn't post it on here because I was too scared.

Hope this helps.

I've seen plans for applications that haven't been made yet but wouldn't say anything because I would get sacked and it would jeapordise the clubs position.

99% of 'inside' sources are just big mouths that know nothing, anyone genuinely employed by the club directly or as a consultant or contractor would never leak anything unless they were VERY unprofessional and wanted sacking.

Paul Brooker going to Leicester. I didn't post it on here (I never post anything I hear from club sources), but I did back up someone else who'd heard it and HAD posted and was getting the usual abuse.

Like a few others I 'know people' involved with the club, but as the people I know aren't that high up the food chain anything I hear is simply office gossip, and like a lot of office gossip sometimes it turns out to be right, sometimes it turns out to be half-right and sometimes it turns out to woefully and totally inaccurate.

I knew about the strong possibility of Amex sponsoring the stadium at arse end of 2008, when one of our VP's mentioned during a town hall meeting he had with Dick Knight earlier that day. At that time there was no decernable link between DK and Amex. Unfortunatly I made a B line for that VP after the Town Hall meeting and asked him directly was that a reference to a possible stadium sponsorship. After nearly chocking on his prawn sandwich , he made a comment that convinced me of the sponsorship. He also made sure to tell me that he would not like to see anything about my assumptions on any forums because he would know where it came from. In the nicest possible way of course. I mentioned it to the people I sit with , but that was it.
He supposed to come and see us last year on the day of Thursday night Saints game last season . He didn't come , but I was told he never really intended to pop in , it was more to attend the game in the evening . Seeing him later that evening at the game , sitting next to TB was the clincher.

Like a couple on people on here if I hear anything I let those around me know but never post it because it's worth the abuse. Not that I hear a lot.

I was told by a director of a premier league club that they were releasing a player and that he was going to talk to us. A week later they re-signed the player for another season on reduced terms. He did apologise but I'm not going to ask whether the deal might be resurrected and I'm definitely not going to name names.

For all sorts of reasons I don't think there is any such thing as a reliable source. Even the manager/player/agent don't always know what is going to happen until the deal is closed and general expressions of interest in players by people in the know might just as well be pissing in the wind.

The fun is in the speculation though so I hope people don't stop!

Don't know about reliable sources, but I think Adrie said he had a mate called Lallana who was on the books at Saints and knew how to play football...which seems to have turned out to be the case.

heard about the amex thing and used to hear first hand what the new kits were going to be and the like. i also got told when we won division 2 in 2002 that dick knight wanted micky adams back for falmer and would re-appoint him for it, but never believed it would happen - particularly after how shit he had been after leaving us!

id never post anything genuine that i'd been told on here though - it betrays the person who told you in the first place, smacks of "oooh oooh look at me" and if it doesnt happen you look like a right plebbian
