Not going great. Cardiff should be 5 down as Reading missed a two on one and had a penalty saved. Huddersfield on a point with only Fulham looking half decent. Looks like the prudent spending approach to getting to the PL doesn't help when you go down.

Newcastle are the only team to bounce straight back recently aren’t they? They also had a Premier League squad and added the best Championship players except AK who they did try and sign?

A much better manager than any of the others had/have too.

Exactly. We might give the Fat Spanish Waiter a load of stick but he's far too good a manager for the Championship. Not only were our two teams rightly promoted that season but Benitez and Hughton were the two best managers.

Didn't do Burnley any harm when they got relegated.

So many teams with parachute payments that you don't suddenly become a big boy just because you were in the PL. You hear that teams are building a squad that will get them back if they go down but it looks like you need to spend big and either stay up or keep your squad together. Sad that a sensible theory can go so badly wrong. At least we spent big within our means. The Villa model could become the norm and that could end badly for some teams.

Huddersfield sold/loaned all their money earners, not surprised they're struggling.
