Reid says give job to Wilkins

Paul Reid has added his name to the growing clammer for Dean Wilkins to be named Albion manager on a permanent basis.

The versatile Australian saluted the impact made by caretaker-chief Wilkins after launching the Seagulls' impressive victory against ten-man Leyton Orient.

Reid, who opened Albion's goal spree in the 16th minute once John Mackie had been sent off for the visitors, said: "Since he has been appointed we've had some great results.

"We've picked up seven points out of nine, so that's very encouraging, and I think the crowd can see we are playing some good football.

"Everyone wants to impress when a new manager comes in and that is no different for us. We have just got to keep going the way we are and, if we keep putting in performances like that, then I am sure both Deans (Wilkins and assistant Dean White) will get the job full-time.

"I know the chairman said he was going to give both Deans a good opportunity to show their worth and I am not quite sure when they are going to make a decision.

"If we continue with the results we have been getting, I guess it will be sooner rather than later."

Wilkins said: "I'm pretty chilled about it. I just like trying to help players improve individually and I get a real kick out of watching the team put into practice the type of formation you put out and the type of options there are within the formation.

"Both Dean and myself are enjoying every minute of it. The group is so together and there is a great atmosphere every day. The staff are close but it has always been like that.

"The timing of the decision doesn't matter to me. If the chairman came up to me now and said I was going back to work with the youth team, I would do that. I love the club and love working for the club."

Why would we want anyone else when he has so much passion for the club.

Name another manager who will be that passionate about Brighton and Hove Albion?

Keep up the good work Deano.

The only name I can come up with, from about 10 years ago, is Brady. Do we seriously expect him to quit Arsenal to take on a sort of director role at the Albion, mind you doesn't Liam still live on the south coast...guess all things are possible.

I've said this since day 1:

DK will give DEANO until Xmas and if we're doing alright he'll give him the job until the end of the season and take it from there.

I said that I did!
