Leeds - but not the dirty bit
I noticed on another thread that there are some people who still refuse to buy the Sun because of what they wrote in the past.

Are there any other reasons why people refuse to buy things because of what they did / said / whatever in the past ?

Maybe silly, but how about Japanese or German cars because of what they did in the past ?

Any others out there ?

I refuse to use any service provided by the banking group Santander, even cash points. I know not using their cash points doesn't take any revenue away from them but the way they treated me when I was made redundant a few years back still makes me seethe. Took back my overdraft 4 days before Christmas as I was no longer in in employment, which swallowed my entire last pay packet and left me penniless.

I know they have every right to do this but they berated me in front of the branch I was in, humiliating and unneccessary. Can't abide them.

Drive by abusing
I refuse to buy The Sun because it is a despicable piece of shit that spreads bigotry, hatred and racism, whilst promoting ignorance and stupidity as virtuous.

This.

I also refuse to buy Mars bars after i got one recently & it has a great big lump of lard in it

So you walked into a branch and told them you'd lost your job?

I don't read the sun much, I'm more of a broadsheet guy myself so I've missed the racist bits in it. Are some people on this thread going a bit ott?

Ha! Well kind of. They decided to terminate my overdraft due to me (my own fault) having a couple of direct debits returned. I went in to ask them to keep it on for another month, they asked loads of questions about my pay and because I didn't have pay slips on me they refused to keep it on. In a (admittedly stupid) last ditch attempt to save my payout I went for the sob story about me being made redundant jsut before X-mas. It cut no mustard. And just for good measure they took the D/D charges out as well, so even with my payout going in I went overdrawn again and got charged another 2 fines for it.

It's not that they weren't entitled to do what they did, it's that they gave no leeway whatsoever for someone in financial trouble cos of redundancy. And they were incredibly rude about it to boot. My own fault? Maybe but there were different ways they could have handled the situation.

I refuse to buy the Sun ever since Maria 22 from Shepton Mallet stopped appearing in it!

Funny you should say that (and I dont mean funny in ha ha). I stopped banking with Alliance and Leicester (owned by Santander) for the very same reason. They werent quite as ruthless with me, but I did have to say to some twat on the phone one day that given the (then) current redundancies in the banking sector, he should make a note of my telephone number for when he got the gooner and I would be more than happy to treat him like shit as he had me.

Yeah, I switched from Abbey over to Alliance & Leicester, who then got bought out by Santander so I switched again. They are a horrible organisation.

Sky - because it's hugely overpriced, is 95% rubbish and if I do have the urge to watch Premiership football I'll go to the pub.

I bet the majority of people who wont, do/buy something on some principle or other. Then unwhittingly give money to the very same person or source, via some other means. Therefore making them people very hypocritical without even knowing it. I personaly wont buy Sheapards Neame bitter on account it gives me the shits.
