Just received an email from the club. The usual matchday rail service for tonight, has been reduced by one third.

Fans urged to use Park and Ride, or seek other forms of transport instead.

London workers may also have trouble due to an 'incident at Wivelsfield', although the lines are now reopened.

Bright/ More radio just said major delays from Gatwick to Brighton expected to last all day.

It would probably be easier if they just reported on trains running normally, but I suppose the above is normal.

It was chaos at Haywards Heath around 11 am. Around 150 people waiting outside for a replacement bus. The reason was that there'd been an incident at Wivelsfield.

Brighton factually.....
I presume that seeing as it is past 15:00 hours now things are up running back to the normal Southern Rail standard ??

There was a fatality just north of Wivelsfield Station where a footpath crosses the railway.

Disruption between Haywards Heath and Brighton owing to the emergency services dealing with an incident in the Wivelsfield area.
Southern services between Haywards Heath and Brighton are severely disrupted owing to the emergency services dealing with an incident earlier in the Wivelsfield area.

Where available Thameslink and Gatwick Express will accept valid Southern tickets over any reasonable route, however these services are also severely disrupted as a result of this problem.

Southeastern Trains are accepting your tickets between Hastings and London.

South West Trains are accepting your tickets between Southampton & Portsmouth and London.

A limited replacement bus service is in operation between Brighton and Haywards Heath and rail tickets are also being accepted on bus services operated by:-

Stagecoach (Route 700) between Brighton and Chichester,

Metrobus (Routes 270, 271 and 273) between Brighton and Haywards Heath,

Brighton and Hove (Route 2) between Brighton and Shoreham.

The club email earlier today was before this presumably so will it be worse than they feared?

Received 1.36pm

Southern Rail have advised additional matchday rail services will be down by one third, compared with usual full matchday extra services.

Southern Rail has advised Brighton & Hove Albion this morning that they will now only be able to provide a reduced matchday service, alongside timetabled services.

We would advise supporters to seek alternative modes of transport where possible, with parking available at Car Park C (The Bridge, £15 cash) and via our three park-and-ride services, with the biggest capacity at Brighton Racecourse.

Park-and-ride is available to all ticket holders, and all parking sites open at 4.45pm this evening.

Coach travel may also be booked via our official coach travel partner Seagull Travel, via their website, where supporters can also find details of availability.

The additional matchday train services usually provided, have been reduced by around one third - so for those with no alternative, we would ask that you allow extra time for your journey to and from the Amex, be patient and follow advice given.

We would also strongly advise to check with Southern Rail on timetabled and connecting services.

Re - "Coach travel may also be booked via our official coach travel partner Seagull Travel, via their website, where supporters can also find details of availability."

Can you book Seagull travel on the day - tried to book Rotheram game (7.45) where there was availabilty at lunchtime on the day only to be told the itinaries had already been sent to drivers and cannot book

Is this right??

See the thread about trains to Seaford. Poster there said he couldn't book.

The problems on the London/Brighton line were mentioned on another thread too, due to the incident at Wivelsfield.

Result is reduced attendance tonight and every evening game until this is sorted

What does the club care. Money in the bank already as the vast majority of those unable to attend will be season ticket holders anyway.

Not that I'm blaming the club for the state of our railways you understand.

Course the club care. Money lost from people who aren't spending money at the ground and potential to upset people to the extent they don't renew next year. Also makes the ground, potentially, less attractive to away fans.
