I have watched that over and over and just cannot fathom how hes missed it....
It’s really poor goalkeeping - he took his eye off the ball. But on the final replay in these highlights, you can see it spins off the turf a full foot to the left. Still a bad keeping error, but he was done by the spin I think.

Good.

He didn't accommodate the spin. It was an extreme spin. You have to accommodate the spin. Or you're f***ed:

How f***ed? Think "Thank goodness for Boris and Truss: without them, you would be poorer and probably dead from Covid" level spin-f***ed.

This error takes me back 56 years, but has stuck in my memory all of these years.
Hopeless at football but forced to play at school I decided to play in goal. The match was at the Downlands School, Hassocks, the pitch bottom left of the playing field. All changed now I expect but I so remember it.
During my first match a back pass came my way, I had the ball covered (I could pick it up back then). Knelt down just as I'd practised, here it comes, 23 players watching my talent along with the teacher, I'm a pro me. The ball was coming quite fast, calm down you've got it, BANG it hits a bit of uneven turf and flies past me to the right (I even remember where it went!).
Dropped from football I never played again.

I raise you Perry Digweed at Peterborough in 1986. The ball hit a lump of ice and looped over him.

Mind you, he should have been sent off a long time before then.

Enckleman's was a worse error:

But the fact Meslier's occurred in the last seconds of the match and denied dirty Leeds the win, was absolutely epic (shame it was Martinez doing that for Villa, mind).
