And if you chuck in the likes of Lopez, Orlandi, Vicente, that fullback who’s name eluded me but scored that free kick, we’ve been pretty good over the last ten years.

Sébastien Pocognoli? He was a loan signing so a slightly different sort of bargain. But up their with our better loan signings for sure.

Oh and prompted by Hugo Rune above Bruno for free has to be one of the best transfers ever. If he'd cost £10 million it would have still been money well spent.

Gross and Veltman must be two of the greatest bargains in the history of football, let alone Brighton's history.
The Gross turns alone are worth 5 million. The goals and assists are worth 20 million of any club's money.
In Veltman, we got a 15 million player for less than a million. Totally obscene.

What could we sell him for? Not that we want to.
No idea. He's 27. Not signed a new contract yet so up in 18 months time. 4 goals this season so far. Throw in inflation of prices, maybe £30m?

Good business definitely but it has taken 2 and a half years to get to this point. Not sure it's a bargain in the same way some of the others are.

Pocognoli? He was just on loan.

Knockaert and Bruno can be added to your list of past players.

All EPL clubs sign expensive duds (perhaps Burnley aside as Stephens was pretty cheap!).

Just be thankful that we are 6 places above the basket case club who signed this £150m+ list of flops:

Cenk Tosun - £27m
Morgan Schneiderlin - £24m
Davy Klaassen - £23m
Yannick Bolasie - £25m
Theo Walcott - £20m
Gylfi Sigurdsson - £45m
Moises Keane - £24m

Fred - £47m
Alex Iwobi - £28m
Nicolas Pepe - £67m

When Senor Saltor first came to the club we played him as a midfielder and to be fair he was pants, once he established himself as a right back though everything changed.

The rest as they say, is history.

You've missed a nought off.

Groß' goals and assists were a major factor in being a Premier League club for the third consecutive season.
That's £200m of anyone's money.

But some duds as well Jahanbakhsh, Locadia and the one that came from same club as Gross but name eludes me - Sutner ?

I think the duds have now been well over-indexed by the successes of the last three years. The £35m or so lost on jurgen and Ali is now inconsequential to the very healthy returns we’ll see from White, Bis, Moder, Mac, Maupay Tariq, and many more.

Few duds in the early Prem years but recruitment now is vastly improved. And a lot of players recently cleared out to reduce the wage bill. Players within the current squad now seem to be either very cheap deals or higher transfer fees paid for players of more immediate quality when needed.

(A few guesses here)

1. Sanchez - free
2. Steele - free
U21. Scherpen - £3/4m
U21. Lamptey - £3m
3. March - free
4. Cucurella - £15m
5. Veltman - £900k
6. Burn - £3m
7. Webster - £22m
8. Dunk - free
9. Duffy - £4.5m
U21. Roberts - free
U21. Turns - free
U21. Dendonker - free or very small fee
10. Băluţa - free or very small fee
U21. Leonard - free
11. Mwepu - £13-20m (seen different reports)
12. Bissouma - £15m
13. Moder - £6m
14. Alzate - Very cheap, no idea.
15. Lallana - free
16. Groß - £3m
17. Mac Allister - £7-10m
U21. Sarmiento - free or very cheap, not sure.
18. Trossard - £15-18m
19. Maupay - £20m
20. Welbeck - free
U21. Ferguson - free

Khadra if he carries on his development this season in the championship and scores a few more goals - he could realistically get 10 . Could be worth £20 million in a couple of years .
