Recording TV and playback techie help needed

I'm looking for one of the TV recorders that has an harddrive

But also has the facility for accepting a USB pen so that a video recording on the pen can be viewed for the normal formats including Mpeg AVI etc.

Know they exist, but was looking for good advice on what and where to buy please
