I'll open with

A Midnight Clear 1992.

A war film without war. Young soldiers scared and very cold. The gunfire isn't good.

An overlooked film.

For fans of All Quiet On The Western Front.

Lake Mungo

Australian Documentary style ghost story. Looking back at the life and death of a girl, and her family reportedly haunted by her.

For anyone who likes a decent scare (not a gruesome horror).

Contagion, 2011

Millions of people worldwide die from a Pandemic. Spooookily Covid like, despite the movie being made nearly ten years before Covid was ever heard about.

36 Quai des Orfèvres (2006) the best film about police corruption you’ll never see. Depardieu and Daniel Auteuil at the top of their game.

(Not sure why that came out in bold)

European Cumbath 29

Set in some of the most romantic cities in the world, a poignant and moving series on how people finding they have something in common, and express it in an affectionate way*

If you likes European Cumbath 28 chances are you will enjoy this too, it has a happy finish, to be fair, it has quite a few of them...and an unexpected rusty trombone scene too.

* Except in Hamburg, where it's expressed in a slightly different manner.

Although Hank is reluctant to keep the money, Jacob and Lou convince him otherwise, and they devise a plan to split the fortune. Things quickly go wrong, however, dramatically affecting the trio and those around them.

Recommended films I may not have seen?

Well. I have opinions on most things, sometimes informed, other times not.

But I cannot recommend anything I haven't seen.

Apart from Fanny Ardant's arse, of course.

The Rabbit Proof Fence.

the true (ish?) sorry of three aboriginal girls in Australia who are taken from their families to be trained for domestic service, but who escape and walk 1500 miles home, guided by the fence.

saw it on TV a few years ago and we were spellbound.
