I would like to see 2 things happen:

2. That on those same UEFA nights the 12 will not benefit from the rest and recuperation but be made to play their ESL fixtures behind closed doors with no TV coverage whatsoever.

LOVE that.
Played on the local rec.

Also it's really horrifically distasteful that they tried to sell it as some kind of Covid recovery scheme.
So, so cynical.

There won’t be any punishments.

The clubs attempted a breakaway after taking legal advice, two days later it collapsed.

The EPL and CL/EL needs their global followings (plus Tottenham) for viewing figures, TV money, basically money.

Next season this will be seldom mentioned, apart from Teams Like Brighton having a few banners and chants.

Sky, BT and BBC are invested in portraying the EPL as a positive product, the centre of our universe. The normal order will resume.

10m pound fine for each club, with the proceeds to go directly down to the lower leagues to alleviate some of the financial pressure due to Covid.
+
1 season Champions League / UEFA Cup ban.

Yeah a fine going directly to lower league/local/grassroots would be great.

There HAVE to be sanctions that (a) punish them for taking football to the brink across the whole of Europe in such an underhand and arrogant manner, and (b) discouraging owners from ever attempting a similat coup in the future.

This cannot be brushed under the carpet simply because of the size and status of the clubs involved. This is football's opportunity to restore some equilibrium and cannot be squandered. Time for the football authorities to step up and show some moral courage and leadership.

there CANT be any sanctions if no rules were actually broken. real question is will the institutions put in place some rules to avoid such a farce in future, to make changes to governance of clubs and competitions.

the same reasons as ever will prevent that, we still have mix of unaligned interests and agendas from UEFA, FA, EPL, clubs and indeed fans. in the coming week UEFA will announce their new format super league that will trample all over the domestic schedules.

There is a breach of the PL bylaws as stated in the press release day. Something to the effect of "you can't join another competition unless there is a vote allowing it". No vote happened and although no ball kicked, the breach was there

Not sure if UEFA have the same/similar rule. Must be one about bringing the game into disrepute though.

Uefa has the same rule

Regardless of what happens in terms of sanctions, the fans of the clubs concerned should be out night and day until these evil ******** are forced out of their clubs. The veil has been lifted, you are and always were nothing but a minor inconvenience to them and they sure as shit don't give a **** about the history or integrity of your club. They'll be hoping everyone just forgets what they tried to do and it goes back to how it was before they can come up with a better plan to try again- they cannot be allowed to get away with this.

Rules were broken. They signed up to an unsanctioned tournament without permission. It’s a clear and simple breach. Not to mention this was all negotiated behind the backs of the other 14 clubs. There has to be consequences for this otherwise they will try again.

They unilaterally signed contracts to join another competition without a vote, in clear breach of regulations. The fact a ball was never kicked is immaterial, plus this wasn't an oversight. They plotted over months and months and signed deals between themselves and JP Morgan. It could not be clearer that the rules have been broken.

I think the sanction should be that the current owners lose their fit and proper status, and are given 24 months to arrange transfer of ownership, with fines monthly upon the club after that date if it has not been done, until it is done.

Regime change.

you can refer to the regulation broken? there will be the schedule of permissible sanctions too.

as far as i can tell they never got as far as actually establishing a tournament. somewhere theres a twitter laughing at this very point, all they had was a loan repayment plan.

No CL ban. That should be settled on the pitch.

Three year transfer embargo, would help them with their financial troubles as well.

I agree a transfer embargo will hurt them and add a large fine to be equally distributed to the all 86 clubs in the league and Conference Leagues.

£75m (£25m per year 3 years)fine each club would mean £3m to each and every club. That will help many clubs if spread over three years and had to be used for specific projects within the club (not paying players or transfers but improving the facilities etc) What a better way of helping the pyramid.

Not only that they proudly put out a press release and web site happily detailing all their new competition details. No mistake, they’d have gone through with this if not for the backlash.

Putting the game in disrepute like this can’t be allowed, surprised anyone would disagree with that.
