Because they have been extremely successful over the past ten years and are by far the best team in the country?

Personally I think it's better to support your local team, whether or not they're successful. It's too easy to latch onto a team because they're successful. Unfortunately, many do it and they've never even been to watch them!

I've got mates who have supported Man Utd since the 60's and I've got great respect for them. The ones I can't stand are the Johnny-come-lately's who think football only started with the formation of the Premiershite, who've only seen M.U.play on TV,And will probably switch to another team if M.U.don't win anything for a couple of years.Wankers

So you lot don't hate Man Utd, just those fans who are gloryhunting?

I also hate the "glory-hunting" aspect and when I was younger and at school I disliked Liverpool for the same reason. I bet you anything you like when Man U play there are always kids/adults wandering around in their shirts without the slightest clue "their" team is in action. What would we do if we were not at the game?...Listening to the radio or we will be on here or at least in touch by some method.

I actually do know a couple of Man U fans through watching England and they are sound enough but they have a large vocal group who are anti-England. These "fans" have been heard to sing "Argentina" and other such chants which really winds me up.

Albion & England forever.

I think M.U. have got some good players but their arrogance gets right up my nose. They seem to think they have some divine right to win a trophy every year and if things go against them they act like spoilt kids.It would be nice to see them taken down a peg or two

I've got as much respect for a Man U fan who goes all the time as I do any other fan.
Anybody who calls themselves a fan of a club and doesen't go or make an attempt to go is a pretty poor fan, and they get little respect from me.

Exactly how I feel. I can understand those that can't get to games for genuine reasons but I get f***ed off with those that have never even been and don't really intend to.

How many seasons over the last 10 years have they not won a trophy ?

When you win alot your expectations are always going to be higher so failure is harder to take.

Living and working in the wonderful metropolis that is Manchester I do feel slightly sorry for my mates for whom United means as much to them as the Albion means to me.

However the sycophantic attitude of the press, the embarrassing ignorance of a sizeable minority of their support, and the lack of support for football as a wider part of the community act as a big black mark in my book.
