JLingz would have been ideal but his form at West Ham has pushed him up above the £50m bracket, plus his £140k a week wages would be out of our range.

Heard a few whispers about Portugese international Lucas Joao, think we could get him for around 10-12m which would be a steal in todays market.

He's been a mediocre Championship striker for years. He's now got one decent season under his belt.

Personally I think we have enough half decent squad options. We need better to take us forward

Abraham would be great. I think the wages will be a stumbling block for us. Also I think he will have teams in a better position then us after him. West Ham for example need a striker.

I think Toney would be worth a go actually. He has not just scored a few goals he is on target to set a record number of goals in the Championship.

Chelsea will not sell/loan to West Ham at the moment unless it’s silly money. If West Ham are going to have to pay big for Lingard then I can’t see they will be able to for another, unless Rice goes the other way.

Agree Toney looks the real deal whenever I’ve seen him play. Also got 9 assists as well as the 28 goals in the Championship already.

Pretty sure he’ll break the Championship transfer record in the summer assuming they don’t go up.

Who you thinking, Villa, Leeds, Palace?

I reckon we're going to nab Tammy Abraham, probably after selling a prized asset of our own. Leo Ostigard looks the real deal and with Matt Clarke coming back into the squad as well - I think we'll flog a CB and invest the cash on Abraham. He has everything we're looking for.

Woah. Really?

I’d love Tammy to join, he’d be an incredible signing. But would assume there’d be bigger clubs and higher wage offers to contend with.

I'm more than happy to be wrong, and it certainly wouldn't be the first time! I'm long past any inferiority complex at this point though. This club is a serious football club. The infrastructure at our club is a match for just about everyone else with very few exceptions. Our stadium is a beautiful place to play football, our City is a beautiful place to live and raise your family. We're London adjacent, we're established in the Premier League and our squad gets better and better every season. We boast Adam Lallana who comes across as being particularly inspiring and he would be a feather in our cap for any player negotiations we're involved in. With a bit of luck, we'll keep Danny Welbeck for another season and maybe the opportunity to work with him would appeal to Abraham?

What we also offer, aside from our Belgian International playmaker and our Argentinian International playmaker, is the genuine offer of regular game time. Abraham can't get in the Chelsea team, but he would get in ours. It was enough to convince Tariq Lamptey to make the move. No, he wouldn't be paid as much here as he would be at Chelsea and maybe that will be a big stumbling block for him. Or maybe he wants to play and would accept the thick end of £80k a week as being not too bad. Personally, I think we're an ideal building block for a young player's career - especially one who isn't getting the gametime they want to have.

No chance of Abraham. he would rather stay at Chelsea and pick up his 100k plus a week than move to us.

If he is available, 1. we cant afford the fee 2. He would want double in wages what our top earner gets.

A total non starter in my opinion

I fully agree with you

If Abraham goes anywhere it’ll be Villa I reckon

I think you totally underestimate what our club offers a player. I agree it's very unlikely and it would be a real surprise and a coup, but I can see it happening. Chelsea are linked with every striker around but they'd need shot of Abraham first. He isn't playing for them. Maybe a loan is more likely, but we could potentially get a deal done. I believe in our club.

No shit Sherlock.

I realise that an opinion on here that we won't buy a big name striker is like taking your toddler toys away from you but that's what I reckon will happen seeing as we have six striker options at the moment and have taken to playing a false nine or revolving attacking three. But then I'm brave enough to put my head above the parapet.

Are you expert enough to spend Tony's money for him? If so, who can we expect? Or can we just expect another summer of extreme pant wetting from your two accounts without an actual sensible suggestion?

Me and every ****ing pundit can see it. Why can’t you?

I doubt there will be any major signings this summer. We already have a very large squad and have covid losses to absorb.

Anyway,i believe our recruitment department if they really do exist, spend their time in a Portakabin in the Lancing area playing Monopoly'

The thing is that our recruiting for EVERY position EXCEPT striker has been superb. However, that one missing piece of the jigsaw has left us in a completely avoidable relegation scrap again. It is perverse in the extreme for example that we chased the ridiculously expensive Spanish guy, when we could have landed Toney for less than half of what we put on the table.

Now Toney would cost as much as the guy we failed to land! Astounding stupidity

I want a quality new striker too. But easy to say in hindsight though isn’t it?

Toney is still only a championship player. As was Maupay. The gulf between Championship and PL is otherworldly. It’s one thing banging in goals against Rotherham, Wycombe and Preston Center backs compared to facing established internationally capped defenders with Champions league experience most weeks.

If we’d signed Toney and he only scored what Welbeck has scored (4 goals or whatever). No doubt people would criticise the club for only signing a Championship striker.

I agree with you that the club have been superb at recruiting everywhere else, but I’m now aligned with the thought that recruiting strikers, with our wage limits, is just a very very complex and tricky position to get right.

And we have almost ENTIRELY got it wrong

I think you will find Nunez was from Uruguay and an international. Are you seriously suggesting we should have ignored him to sign a player from the EFL and save a few quid ?.NSC would have had a meltdown!! Sometimes the club cannot win.

My mantra is right player at the right price.Perhaps we do not need a striker. Swanny could be right!!

Maupay’s on course for 10 PL goals again this season (maybe more). Surely he’s been a successful recruitment?

And have to admit I was not the biggest fan of the Welbeck signing, but will hold my hands up he’s been different class in recent games and won us some crucial points.
