I saw Chelsea diddle Barcelona in the Romans pub last night, on a dodgy Italian feed with no commentary, just the crowd atmosphere. I wish I were watching this the same way. Commentary is over rated.

Benzema does a Noone-style shot that goes just wide and the commentators are raving about it. It does look like we are seeing the European Champions tonight, but if Benzema of Real was any good he would have scored. Gomez missed a sitter for Bayern early on (one that Ashley Barnes would have scored). Both teams are more slapdash than Barca. Gomez will miss another chance before the end (my forecast).

I have not seen a replay. I would watch for the defender nudging him of balance. It did not look like one initially. I was not totally surprised though.

In view of the first penalty it was a good one. 50-50 really. That's how to stop Gomez: nudge him as he is about to pull the trigger! Typical German striker with a Spanish name!

Bayern had two better penalty calls afterwards.
