Why would he decide to go there when he has so much influence with Tony and such good young players to work with at the Albion? No Real manager lasts more than a couple of years, he'd be stupid to go.

He'd earn more in those 2 years at Real than 5 here. Playing and competing in CL and managing biggest club in world football.

So De Zerbi is rumoured to take over from Ancelotti, who is rumoured to be taking over as the next Brazil national team head coach.

So that leaves us a potential opportunity to take Brazil's current caretaker head coach, Fernando Diniz, who is also Fluminense head coach.

Diniz would be such a Brighton signing. The most hipster of any coach out there. His style would be something totally different to what is currently happening in European football.

A piece in the Guardian described 'Diniz's playing style is highly unorthodox: he takes the chaos of Brazilian street football and expands it into an 11-a-side version at the highest level of the sport, where advanced tactical systems reign supreme. Throughout Diniz's managerial career, his ideas have been dismissed as fantasy and even madness'. (That sounds familiar.)

Can you imagine the total carnage of him managing Real.
A club like them will come in for him. There's an element of a leap of faith, but if you're pragmatic you look at Brighton at our best and think 'imagine that with our players'. He also has the personality to be totally unphased by it all.

Needs to prove himself with a lower club first.

If we win the Europa League, taking down another European giant in the process, then this might have legs.

I am less bothered about RDZ going than I was about Potter.

I really didn’t think we could replace Potter and maintain success. When he left we were 4th and flying. Now I am much more confident and relaxed that we can replace a manager and keep going. I also think the quality of the team and squad is better than it’s ever been, we are giving any new manager amazing tools to work with.

I think RDZ is clearly the better manager but I’m not convinced the gap between the two is as big as people think it is as I think now that clubs have had a year to study his style I think we have been found out a little bit. Given all that if Real Madrid want our manager I can live with that.

I agree. The writer of the tweet has chosen to give this a slant by saying that Real have "opened talks" with De Zerbi. This makes it sound like a concentrated campaign to get him, and I seriously doubt that it is. The tweet could probably have more truthfully said that Real have spoken to De Zerbi as they continue to look at a variety of options for an eventual successor to Ancelotti. I suspect they have spoken/will speak to a number of people -- though for ages it's been widely presumed to be Xabi Alonso's job if he wants it.

It would feel like a job half finished, but we’re nowhere near offering RDZ quality cover in every position. Throughout I’ve envisaged him leaving in summer 24 or 25.

Re RDZ, this January window is going to be very significant for our club. We are not Everton in that we must have significant transfer funds available without breaching FFP.
Also slightly concerning that only week PBOBE mentioned that we have continuity plans in place for everyone, including RDZ.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. By my rough calcs, last season we'll have made a profit of around 100m, and this should see us more or less break even for our first 6 seasons in the Premier - which is good going considering that includes 2 Covid seasons.

This is obviously not including this season so far, and transfer income this year so far of around 180m isn't to be sniffed at, but then neither is the 400m of outstanding loans owed to Tony Bloom.

To be honest I really cant see it happening. It's not as if we even look amazing in the Europa. He's way below Reals required CV imo.
