2011-12 season car was a terrible experience. Getting out of the ground took an hour due to traffic. The car park was just a field next to the stadium, which was poorly managed. Never took the train there so can't help here.

The car's not too bad if you do park and ride. Did that with my dad and didn't take us anything like an hour, although it was super expensive because it was Boxing Day.

Very true. Sky don't really want to show empty stadiums, as it doesn't sell their product very well.

Or, it might suit their agenda to show that football other than the Premier League are not worth covering. Thus paving the way for a supreme league, with no promotion or relegation, and no need to pay anything to the rest of the league.

*this isn't my opinion, just a thought.

Without relegation, what do teams outside the top few have to play for? Sky loves to have a narrative for every game it shows - who is going to watch Stoke vs Hull if it isn't attached to a relegation dogfight?

It now may well be Jnr Stat's first ever away game.

Errr, yeah about that.....

Buses replace trains between Guildford and North Camp on the Gatwick - Reading line until 2PM that day - will need to get there via London or via a bus !!

8.35 from Brighton looks a decent choice. Change at Clapham Junction, arrive in Reading at 11.01. Bit of a trek to the ground though.

In the US most sports at the top level have no relegation, occasionally new teams get elected (pay to join) as others go by the wayside. You might be right regarding Sky and Hull v Stoke, however, they'd probably rather not have those games, more like have 20 teams, all minted to the eyeballs, the best players in the world all playing in the league, with a draft transfer scheme, more evenly competetive, more chance to sell the rights further.

I know it's not your opinion but I'm confused as to how it could possibly show that, to be honest. ???

11/12 boxing day was easy, got back to goring by 6.30

I was thinking along the lines of: If Sky (who are massivley in bed with the Premier League) want a get out for showing non EPL games, then show games with half empty grounds. Then argue with the FA that it's not worth their while to show them as no-one is interested, then they can get out of the obligation they have to show FL games. Thus freeing up more boradcast time to show more EPL games etc etc..

I only looked quickly and it showed a train with one change, no buses and that took two and a bit hours - didn't notice it went via Clapham.
Not much more expensive and not much slower (it is a sunday after all).

Presumably Sky paid for the rights to the Football League - a separate package from the Premier League rights. Why would they then not want to show the product they have just paid for? They could have simply not bid for Football League rights. ???

Quite.

What a terribly odd hypothesis.

Did Sky choose to take the FL rights package, or were they obligated to by the FA in return for such dominant EPL rights? That is where my thought comes from. If Sky came out and said they were dumping the FL rights in exchange for 100% exclusivity of the EPL, would it be a total suprise, after all, Sky don't believe that football existed before 1992, and even after 10 years playing in the FL, they still said Michael Kippers.

Like I said, it's a thought I had, conspiracy theory mode, it's not what I believe. Yet.
