Reading fans are notoriously quiet. There aren't many grounds around with a worse atmosphere than the Madjeski.

The atmosphere at the madjeski was appalling, one of the worst I have seen

It's so weird how there are always such different opinions about away fans.

I thought they were pretty good to be fair. Loud and sung throughout the game

It must depend on which stand the opinions are coming from. I sit in line with the halfway line and last night was surreal at times-the North Stand singing 'Shall we sing a song for you?' in my right ear whilst Reading were singing at the same volume in my left ear.

Reading were quiet compared to many visiting sides this season.

They did appear, from my position half way along the WSU, to be surprisingly quiet, particularly given they were winning and we missed a penalty.

But then again, we were playing them off the park so much, it's probably fair to say they were all bricking it. Nerves are going to be a factor in their position aren't they, and they won't have had many more fortunate wins all season. So I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and suggest that their relative silence was due to the fact that they were being completely outplayed and all too busy chewing their nails to sing.

1hr and quarter by car to reading...hmm...must get a faster car

I,ve done it many a time in 1hr 15 mins,average of 80mph and bang.Do we actually make the full allocation available as most sell-outs are 2300/400 and the away end holds 2585.Reading still have a lot of newish fans and that will continue as the town is thriving and very prosperous at the moment.They get a fair few polish at home games aswell as I know two who go every home game.

Sitting in the away end I thought our fans were very nervy, loud when Feds saved the penalty and at the end but other than that (partially due to not relieving ourselves of much pressure all game on the pitch!) it was a very tense affair. Easily the quietest we've been in recent games

I only heard them sing twice throughout the whole match just after they scored and at the end when they had won GREAT !!!
Deluded wankers outside afterwards as there were so many of them saying that they were "all over us" (must have been watching a rerun of past Reading matches on Sky mobile) they had won it all ready, and would end up comfortably halfway up the Premiership next season REALLY ??

Reading once played to a few thousand people at Elm Park in the lower reaches of the football league.

They now have a great stadium, and sound backing financially, and the people of the area are realising they can watch a local club playing at a decent level. Good on them for supporting their local side, regardless of whether their first club is Arsenal/Chelsea/Liverpool/Man U. Why do some people seem to think that by doing this, fans are crossing some kind of moral line?

For football to remain competitive and interesting in this country, we need people to turn out in numbers for clubs like Reading, and Brighton for that matter. Good on them for filling the away end on a Tuesday night and if they weren't as vocal as Leeds or Liverpool or Palace ... so what?
