Interesting match. I'm no sponsorship guru, but I wouldn't have thought posh food shops were necessarily a good fit with football.

Can't imagine too many fans rushing out to snap up some sun-dried tomatoes after seeing Reading's shirts on The Championship.

Or is this just concrete proof of the gentrification of football? Next week: Fortnum and Mason announce their shirt sponsorship of West Ham. Hammers Hampers on sale from £149.99.

I would have thought Lidl would be more appropriate sponsors for that shower.

Odd thing about this shirt sponsorship is that on a subconcious level everyone seeing Reading in Sainsburys shirts will associate Sainsburys with second rate dross.

Well if they're sponsored by Waitrose they'll have to take down any signs that help you find the place.

Sounds like season ticket holders will get a discount. Say they get 10%, it would be worth regular waitrose shoppers (who spend more than about £70 a week) getting a season ticket for the discount... They could end up with an empty stadium! :clap2:
